We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mary Murrill. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mary below.
Alright, Mary thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At Rescue Me Virtually, our mission is to empower new entrepreneurs and small business owners by helping them build professional brands, create impactful online presences, and market their businesses with confidence. We believe no entrepreneur should have to navigate the overwhelming demands of starting and growing a business alone. Our purpose is to provide the tools, strategies, and creative solutions that allow business owners to lay a strong foundation, attract clients, and achieve lasting success.
The story behind this mission is deeply personal. My journey began by watching my father as a small business owner. He spent his days on job sites, overseeing workers and building relationships to keep contracts flowing. But when the workday ended, his responsibilities only grew heavier. At night, he would answer phones, write down job orders, track payroll hours, write checks, and even drive workers back and forth to job sites. I saw how exhausting it was for him to juggle everything alone, and that’s when I realized entrepreneurs can’t do it all themselves; they need help to succeed.
That realization shaped the path I would later take. After co-founding a transportation company with a partner, I managed administrative tasks and maintained the company website. Soon, other transportation businesses began asking me for help with their operations and online presence. Their needs inspired me to dive deeper into website design, branding, and digital marketing.
Wanting to gain more knowledge, I returned to school and earned a degree in Business Administration, which gave me the knowledge to pair with my real-world experience. Furthering my education enabled me to expand my services to include graphic design, business cards, brochures, flyers, press kits, and other branded materials.
Over the years, I’ve worked with entrepreneurs across many industries, authors, life coaches, natural product makers, nonprofits, security companies, t-shirt brands, music artists, and more. Most were solo entrepreneurs, highly skilled at their craft but unsure how to present their business in a professional and marketable way. Helping them bridge that gap prompted me to start my own business.
Rescue Me Virtually was born from these experiences and my desire to “rescue” entrepreneurs from overwhelm. Every time I see a client’s relief and excitement when their project is complete, I know I’ve fulfilled my purpose: giving business owners the tools, resources, and confidence they need to be successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the founder of Rescue Me Virtually, and my passion has always been to support entrepreneurs and small business owners, especially women who are building their business from a vision. Because of that passion, I joined the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), whose mission is to support women from diverse backgrounds both personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition.
Within ABWA, I currently serve as Vice President of the Maryland Capital Chapter and was recently honored as the 2025–2026 Woman of the Year. Receiving such recognition was an incredible honor, as it affirmed my dedication to empowering women and entrepreneurs to grow and succeed.
What I’m most proud of is knowing that my work helps others transform their ideas into thriving businesses. When clients tell me how relieved, proud, and excited they are about their new website, it reminds me why I love what I do.

About My Brand
The Rescue Me Virtually brand is built on compassion, empowerment, and transformation. It represents guidance and support for entrepreneurs who are ready to grow but don’t want to struggle alone.
Our brand is about rescuing business owners from the stress of “trying to do it all” and giving them the tools, strategies, and visuals to confidently share their work with the world. At its core, Rescue Me Virtually stands for transformation, turning vision into reality, helping entrepreneurs look professional, attract clients, and become successful.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
One of the best sources I’ve found for connecting with new clients has been through strategic partnerships. For example, I partnered with LaBoo Publishing Enterprise, a company that works with a wide range of authors. Many of their writers publish individual books, while others contribute to anthologies that feature numerous authors within a single project.
This partnership has been invaluable because every author needs a professional online presence to showcase their work, connect with readers, and market their books. That’s where Rescue Me Virtually steps in.
We provide:
Custom Website Design & Hosting – so each author has a platform that truly reflects their brand and their voice.
Monthly Website Maintenance Plans – so they can focus on selling while we keep their sites updated and secure.
Email Marketing Setup – helping them build a mailing list to engage readers and promote their book or upcoming projects.
Google Business Profile Setup – giving them credibility and visibility in search results.
What makes this source of clients so effective is that it’s a built-in community of professionals with the same need. Instead of trying to market to each author one by one, I’m able to serve them collectively through my partnership with the publisher. It creates a win-win: the publisher looks great for offering additional resources to their authors, and I’m able to help each author get the online tools they need to succeed.
Here are a few more:
1. Professional Networks (ABWA)
My involvement with the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) has also been a great source of clients and connections. As the Vice President of the Maryland Capital Chapter and as the 2025–2026 Woman of the Year, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with women entrepreneurs from diverse industries. Many of them are either launching new businesses or looking to strengthen their brands—and that aligns perfectly with the services Rescue Me Virtually provides.
2. Referrals and Word-of-Mouth
A large percentage of my clients come from referrals. Once I complete a project, clients often share my work with their peers and business networks. I’ve found that when entrepreneurs experience excellent service and see real results, they are quick to recommend me to others.
3. Networking Events and Chambers of Commerce
I also participate in local networking events, business expos, and Chamber of Commerce gatherings. These events allow me to connect face-to-face with entrepreneurs who need help building their online presence. Networking is not just about passing out business cards; it’s about building relationships that often turn into long-term partnerships.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
What Has Significantly Impacted My Management and Entrepreneurial Philosophy
One of the most transformative experiences in shaping my entrepreneurial thinking has been joining the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) and stepping into the role of Vice President of the Maryland Capital Chapter. Serving on the board has been nothing short of hands-on training in leadership and organizational management.
When I first accepted the position, I thought I had a solid understanding of what it takes to run an organization, but I quickly realized there is a big difference between theory and practice. Being on the board exposed me to the inner workings of leading a team, building consensus, making difficult decisions, and ensuring that every initiative aligns with a bigger mission.
What has made this journey even more impactful is the opportunity to work alongside women who are highly skilled in their respective fields. They have been some of the best mentors and teachers I could ask for. I’ve had the chance to learn directly from their expertise, grow from my own mistakes, and contribute to the success of others. That kind of practical, real-time learning is something no classroom could ever fully prepare you for.
Another lesson I’ve learned is that entrepreneurship is constantly evolving. What worked three years ago may already be outdated today. That’s why I believe it’s important to always stay open to learning, adopt new strategies, and embrace change rather than resist it.
I encourage every entrepreneur to continually sharpen their skills:
Renew certifications to stay credible and relevant.
Seek out mentors and advisors who can provide guidance and perspective.
Stay relentless in your industry by paying attention to emerging trends and adapting as needed.
My time in ABWA didn’t just help me grow as a leader; it reshaped my philosophy as a business owner. It taught me that leadership is not about having all the answers; it’s about being open to growth, surrounding yourself with the right people, and staying adaptable in a rapidly changing world.
