We were lucky to catch up with MARY JOHNSON recently and have shared our conversation below.
MARY, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Well, back in 2009 I was 120 lbs overweight due the lack of care I had for my temple. Summertime was really my worst month with unhealthy food due to all the family birthdays, Bar-B-Que’s just because, and not to mention the 4th of July celebrations. I mean who could resist right? After being fed up with being overweight, I decided to take my life back. I joined a gym, lost 120lbs in a year and became a certified personal trainer. From 2010-2019 I helped thousands of people lose weight and keep it off. In 2015 I created a brand name Vitiman Kandie LLC that started out with cold pressed juices mixed with raw fruits and vegetables that cleanse your digestive tract, gives you energy, and helps boost your immune system. My brand has since then became an array of products such as herbs, books, food, and Me. Yes, I said Me. I am also a motivational speaker that travels to spread how I lost my weight, kept it off, and changed lives in the process. In 2017 I opened my own personal training studio,and in 2019 I opened Vitiman Kandie Cafe 1 in Richmond Heights, Ohio and location 2 Cleveland, Ohio. VKC innovative line of natural herbs and juices that offers nutrition on the go for hopeful spirits in pursuit of improving their personal health. If you are looking for a holistic approach to your wellness journey, Vitiman Kandie is your answer. Unfortunately, I had to close my Richmond Heights location due to COVID-19 pandemic early 2020 but managed to keep my Cleveland location open during the pandemic to help residents of the community heal through this terrible virus. I am currently in the process of re-opening my second location in another area of Cleveland and I am so very thankful for my faithful customers and new customers who continue supporting my brand.

We provide nutritional food options, herbs and fitness plans that help our clients throughout their journey. Thanks to our products, our customers have reported they feel better, lose weight, and have completely changed their mindsets about living a healthier lifestyle. After years of delivering this value to our clients through personal fitness sessions and wellness advising, we wanted a more direct platform to interact with them; this is how Vitiman Kandie Café (VKC) was started. Here we offer juices, herbs, and healthy meals at an affordable price so everybody can enjoy it. At the Café, we provide transparency by creating delicious recipes using simple, quality, and local ingredients. Our staff is versed on where the ingredients and herbs are sourced and what benefits they offer to the consumer.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think people being connected to my personal story build my reputation within my market. I am an example of hard or and my actual product.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn is expecting others to understand your product just because they can relate to the physical transformation. I had to really start having more one on one conversations of encouragement to get customers to understand the products.
