We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mary Allen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mary, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about making remote work effective.

My company was actually birthed in the height of Covid 19 when most companies were transitioning their employees from the office to remote working. I was out of work because my children were sent home for remote learning due to Covid. In the mist of this I prayed and asked God what could I do for income. He asked me a simple question ” What’s already in your hands?” Then it hit me! Wow! I can literally offer businesses the same services that I had done in my career while in corporate America. The only difference is I would be able to do this from home and still be with my family! I believe this actually worked as leverage for me when reaching out to potential clients and offering my services virtually. The nation as a whole was now embracing working from home and it was no longer unfamiliar territory.

Mary, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Mary and I have been married to my amazing husband for almost 15 years. We have 3 beautiful girls together and we live in the Atlanta, GA area. I have been in the Healthcare field for over a decade and it is absolutely my passion! I take such joy in serving my clients and shedding light on areas that may not necessarily be areas of strength for them. MJ Virtual Solutions was birthed during the height of COVID-19. It was definitely a time of uncertainty for many people and job losses were at an all time high. I was out of work because my children were doing remote learning and I needed to be available to them. This took a toll on my household as far as finances are concerned. I remember praying and asking God what I can do for income. He asked me a simple question. ” What is already in your hands?” I was so excited because I then realized that I could offer the services to businesses that I had done in corporate America for so many year prior. However, I decided that I would offer these services virtually to reach a wider client base and create my own schedule to give me the flexibility I needed. The decision I made that day has proven to be life changing for me and my family! What started out as offering administrative and management services to healthcare providers very quickly began to expand to 3 client types: Healthcare providers, Business owners, and Ministries/artist. After my first year in business, I also had the pleasure of hiring our first team member. She has been absolutely amazing and such a blessing to the business!

The majority of my clients are behavioral health providers who are transitioning from group practice to private practice. I offer management and administrative solutions to them so they can focus on the clinical side of things. Often times when these clients think about opening a practice they have very little support with managing the office. This is where I come in. Me and my team offer services like training, billing, insurance verification, scheduling, collections, and account management. The best part about it is we can service clients anywhere in the world!

I believe what separates my company from another business that may offer similar service is that we truly have a passion to educate and serve our clients and want to see them grow and succeed in the respective industries! This is our heart, mission, and purpose!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Surprisingly enough, Facebook has proven to be the best source of gaining new clients for me!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

I believe the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been consistency. If you are consistent in your pursuit and you show up every single day giving it your all, gaining clients will be inevitable. Consistency is key!
