We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marvelous Marissa Daniel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marvelous Marissa, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
The Best Boss I ever had was the beautiful Ms. Christy Griffin. She was my Property Manager from July 2015-November 2017. She was such an angel and she always believed in me. She always encouraged me when I was her Leasing Professional at Rosemont Apartment Homes in Roswell, GA. She called me her ‘ray of sunshine’ and she nominated me as “Leasing Professional of the Year” in the state of Georgia. She was so proud of me when I stepped out on faith in 2017 to pursue my dreams in television. She watched all my shows and surprised me by attending one of my book signings in 2020. It broke my heart when she passed away in October 2021 but I will never forget what she told me, “to have confidence in myself and my abilities.” I love you Ms. Christy and thank you for making such a great impact on my life. Continue to rest in paradise.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Marvelous Marissa Daniel and I am a Television Host, Author, a Public Speaker and Entrepreneur. I host my television show called, “Broken into Beautiful” that has aired on WATC TV 57, People TV and AIB Television Network. I interview people who boldly testifies on how God has delivered them from being broken to now beautiful. My show has become such an inspiration that I received the 2018, “Girl Power Award” from the 2018 NOW Conference and I was the Media Honoree at the 2021 All Star Awards for doing “Outstanding Work in Media.” In 2019, I was the first Gospel Radio Host for IBNX Radio Network. My radio show, “The Praise in You” ranked at one of the top five shows on the network. I was the voice for the, “Here’s What’s Happening” segment on 104.7 The Fish, which is a syndicated radio station in Atlanta, GA. I published my first book entitled, “From Brokenness to Marvelous” in June 2020. I share my testimony on how God took me from a broken little girl and blossom me into being Marvelous Marissa. I am often book for speaking engagements and hosting opportunities. I was the Mistress of Ceremony for the 2019 Lupus Gala in Atlanta, GA and the Mistress of Ceremony for the 2020 Walk to End Lupus NOW Rally. Not to mention, I was the red carpet correspondent for the 2019 “I Will Survive Incorporated” Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show and the 2020-2021 Auctioneer for the Pinnacle Awards & Scholarship Gala. I was the red carpet correspondent for the 2022 Stellar Awards and this year’s red carpet host/presenter at season 15 Prayze Factor Awards in Atlanta, GA. If it wasn’t for the FAVOR of the Lord, I wouldn’t be where I am today! To God be the Glory!!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an influencer is that I am able to be my authentic self and live out loud while fulfilling my purpose. I was rejected numerous times and told that I wasn’t good enough to be on television. I was told to remove a lot of my skills and experience off my resume so that I would’t overshadow anyone. Through the constant backlash, rejections and when people told me in my face that I wasn’t good enough to pursue media, God opened the right door at the right appointed time to do what I absolutely love to do. In 2017, I signed my first television contract with WATC TV 57 in Atlanta, GA to host my talk show, “Broken into Beautiful.” I have the honor to interview people who boldly shares how they were once broken, and how God has blossomed them into being beautiful. Hosting and producing this show has opened up so many opportunities in hosting live television programs, being a gospel radio host for an online radio network, doing commercials and hosting the “Here’s What’s Happening” segment on 104.7 The Fish. One of my biggest accomplishments was publishing my first book, “From Brokenness to Marvelous” in June 2020. My book is now national and can be found anywhere. It is rewarding for me to drive down the highway and see my billboards on the highway. The last five years of my life has been amazing and I owe thanks to God for turning all my No’s into a YES. God gets all the glory and praise and it’s more rewarding for me to utilize my gifts to give him the glory!!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was in kindergarten at Fratney Elementary School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, my teacher told my mother, Laverne Lardydell, that I was going to have difficulties with public speaking and that I had a speech problem. I always wanted to pursue Broadcast Journalism and when they enrolled me in speech class, I felt discouraged, broken, sad and depressed at a tender young age. I was always teased for talking “proper” or not pronouncing my words correctly. I was even told that I was too “fat” to pursue media. I cried for many years and almost gave up because of the harsh criticism, the doors that were shut in my face or the many times I was overlooked. However, God gave me a promise and one of his promises is that I will pursue television. Despite what my kindergarten teacher, my peers and my professors told me in school, God told me the exact opposite. This experience made me resilient and now I don’t believes the lies of the enemy, I believe what God told me and his thoughts about me are priceless, Psalm 139:17. Now, I’m being booked to host galas, conferences, seminars, red carpet events, hosting Gospel Award Shows, hosting birthday parties and my voice has been all over television and the radio. My speech has never been an issue and now I see that my voice is a gift from God. I’m happy and proud of myself for not giving up despite the many challenges and setbacks I endured. It made me stronger and God gets all the glory and praise!
