We recently connected with Marty Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Marty thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
In a world of sameness, I create tangible products that are noticeably different. Compared to product landscapes that contain minor iterative competitive differences, my objective is to create designs that perform the function in ways that are simpler and new.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The bicycle, and its econosphere, is the common theme to my product designs and inventions. Let’s Go Aero, of which I am the founder and CEO, provides transportation, storage and organizational products for the bicycle lifestyle, and Martoni Bike is a new bicycle. The intersection of fun and fitness is where these products play. Among the Let’s Go Aero products I’m responsible for, the names that stand out for being truly a priori are; The Herman Trailer, GearSpace and Jack-IT. Martoni Bike is currently resident to the CardioSpeeder and the Super-E products which heretofore are also unknown. A rearward glance at this product and business history reveals an ability to imagine new things and overcome fear, which do not come in equal amounts!

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Inventing product is simply combinational pattern recognition with a dose of ‘AH-HA’ thrown in. Tangible product contains facts and my background is all about discovering, learning and carrying facts along with me for the ride. Reading is a fundamental building block for me and among the books that truly affected me are:
Chaos Theory by James Gleick
Deep, Hot Biosphere by Thomas Gold
At Home in the Universe by Stuart Kaufman
Wonderful Life by Stephan Jay Gould
These collections of facts mean these things to me:
Life is a complex adaptive model where every change of input changes the output
Life exists everywhere in the universe
Life is an expectation
Life is subject to exigent events

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Now then. I had to unlearn Now Then. Now Then is procrastination. Now Then means putting off taking action in the moment. Now Then is suffocation and stultification. Action informed by history and intuition is moving away from the Now Then prison. After sufficient actioneering decisions, it is hard to even remember the little voice saying Now Then.
