We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marty McLean. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marty below.
Marty, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
One of the biggest parts of building JamFast has been learning how to genuinely show our customers that we appreciate them. Since we created Chordly, our portable silent guitar practice tool, we have had thousands of guitar learners reach out telling us that it helped them finally build consistent practice habits. I make it a point to respond personally whenever I can, because our community matters. We also created the JamFast Insiders group so our customers could get weekly guitar support, training, and encouragement. It is our way of saying that when someone buys a Chordly they are not just buying a guitar practice tool, they are joining a team of players who want to get better together.
One customer told me that she had tried learning guitar for twenty years and Chordly finally helped her make progress during her lunch breaks. Stories like that remind me that showing appreciation is not a tactic, it is a culture. We listen, we improve, and we build tools that fit real lives. That is the heart of JamFast.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been playing guitar for more than twenty years, and music has always been a part of my life. During Covid I started teaching guitar online so I could help beginners stay motivated and keep learning. That experience showed me how many people struggle with the same problem. They want to play guitar, but life gets busy and they cannot find consistent time to practice. That is what led me to create JamFast and our flagship product Chordly, a pocket sized silent guitar practice tool designed to help people build real finger strength and accuracy wherever they are.
Today JamFast is focused on making guitar learning simple, accessible, and consistent. We design tools and training that help beginners and returning players make quick progress without needing long practice sessions. Chordly has become one of the most popular portable guitar trainers because it is modeled after a real acoustic neck and lets people practice chords, scales, and finger dexterity in short bursts. Our JamFast Insiders community adds weekly lessons and personal support so players feel encouraged instead of overwhelmed. We also develop guitar focused board games and learning products that turn music theory into something you can play with friends or family. Our goal is to remove frustration and replace it with small breakthroughs that add up fast.
What sets us apart is that everything we build comes from real teaching experience. I know how frustrating plateaus can be, and I know how powerful small daily practice can be. I am proud that thousands of players now use Chordly as part of their routine and that JamFast is helping people finally feel like guitar is something they can stick with for life.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Our social media channels mix education and entertainment because guitar learning works best when people feel engaged. Some posts teach technique, some are motivational, and some are just fun for the community. That balance helped our audience grow past half a million guitar learners. People stick around because they feel seen and supported, and because they know they will get something valuable every time they interact with our content.
I built my social media presence by focusing on guitar learners who wanted simple, practical help they could use right away. I have been playing guitar for more than twenty years, and during Covid I started teaching online to help beginners get past the early frustrations that usually make people quit. That led to the idea for Chordly, our portable silent guitar practice tool, and my content naturally grew around helping people fit consistent practice into real life. From there, JamFast became a community built on simple, clear lessons that make guitar feel achievable for anyone.
My biggest advice for anyone trying to build a social media presence is to focus on serving a specific person with a specific problem. Show up consistently, teach something useful, and make it enjoyable to watch. If you can help people make progress, your platform will grow naturally.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I started teaching guitar during Covid after playing for more than twenty years. What began as a small side hustle quickly turned into something much bigger when I realized how many people struggled with consistent practice and finger dexterity. That challenge is what inspired me to create Chordly, our portable silent guitar practice tool. At first I was building prototypes at my kitchen table and teaching students online at night. I never expected it to grow into a full business, but the demand for a simple practice solution was obvious from day one.
The turning point came when our early videos went viral and the JamFast community began to grow. Sales of Chordly took off, and I realized this was no longer a side project. It had become a real company with real impact. We reinvested everything into improving the product, expanding our line, and building JamFast Guitar into a brand that makes guitar learning fun and accessible. Reaching half a million followers was a major milestone, along with fulfilling our first large production run and launching new products like our guitar learning card decks and our upcoming music themed board game designed to help people understand scales and theory through play.
What started as a side hustle to help a few students has grown into a mission to help people learn guitar in a way that fits their lives. That shift from hobby to full time career happened naturally because the demand for practical, portable, and engaging guitar learning tools kept growing. Every milestone has pushed us to keep building and to make JamFast a place where beginners and returning players can learn quick and jam fast.
