We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marticia G. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marticia below.
Marticia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking risk is in my opinion the most valuable thing you could ever do in your entrepreneurship career. Life is all about taking risk, riding a bike hiking up a mountain starting a brand new job you know nothing about. Entrepreneur ship is all of those fears being thrown to the side and amplified times five. This business was a risk. I was working in a warehouse that I did not like at a job I did not like in a mental space I did not like. I started off. Candles is just a hobby that I would like to do to relieve stress. I gave candles to my mother, my grandmothers, and they absolutely loved it. With one of my grandmothers being a business owner herself. She encouraged me to start my own business. Then I started to put it out there and ever since you know it has been bliss. The ups, the downs, and me being only in my second year, I am truly excited for the ride that I have coming to me. My first sale, I sold out of absolutely all of my candles. I grew up with a strong mindset that if you want to do something just do it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
so I am a college student, dog mom, caregiver in finance, and entrepreneur. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, I basically grew up in a small, but not small town. Everyone knew almost everybody. My great grandmother even had a floral shop on Bouldercrest Road right by my school. There is always really good in the individualistic traits in everyone’s family. My family is extremely creative and encouraging to do your own thing and they have your back. My products, my candles, my babies, my vision of love is a way to pass on light to other people. Candles for me, or a spiritual gateway to the energy that you bring into your home. My motto is making your home your peace. I can make custom candles, altar candles, pillar candles, jar candles, wax melts, I can do it all. I always put good energy of light of love of abundance into my Candles. Nobody needs a negative Nancy in their lives let alone negative objects in their home. I give the tools the starter tools to start to learn how to preserve your energy in no what type of energy you want to bring into your life. My candles are a for sure way to bring light love and prosperity into your life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I will say the best strategy is networking. In Atlanta the saying goes “your network is your net worth.”, meaning you have to put yourself out there you have to go out to these places market yourself get to know people build rapport. It’s all about starting small first so that you know how to handle the bag. The effective strategy that I use is my words. How I say them how I articulate them. Also learning how to market and how to brand your business the way that not only the way you want to, but it’s targeting that specific audience for you.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I will learn, and unlearn again, is not to use your own money. There are so many business funding options out here that can only not only save you money, but save you time and reduce stress when it comes to a business. You are able to get the help that you need. There are plenty of business, funding, lines of credit, grants and other ways to receive the help and financial stability that you need to grow and thrive in business.
