We were lucky to catch up with Marthe Vaangman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marthe, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The projects that are the most meaningful for me are those that create a positive impact on others. When I’m considering collaborating with creators or taking on new projects, I consistently focus on the long-term value and the potential influence they can have on the world. Whether they’re smaller endeavors or larger undertakings, the ability to inspire others positively holds great importance in my perspective. This is when I genuinely feel a profound sense of accomplishment and success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I launched my career in the music industry, initially collaborating with musical artists. I began with an internship at YM&U, an international talent management company, which subsequently opened doors to numerous opportunities. Simultaneously, I was involved in launching and overseeing a music experience and live events enterprise with Studiotime, often described as the “Airbnb for music studios.”
My contributions to Studiotime extended to spearheading the launch of their live events division, encompassing event planning, talent management, and the expansion of the business from its initial event to multiple locations. Additionally, I began working on distinct projects with content creators, offering guidance on how they could establish their brand and advance their careers.
These diverse experiences eventually led me to Invisible Narratives, a creator entertainment firm co-founded by Adam Goodman and Michael Bay. Our mission is to introduce professional Hollywood storytelling and create franchises with digital creators by bundling content with products. Within this role, I oversee all aspects related to talent, such as talent sourcing, onboarding, and creative project leadership for the projects we are nurturing. This involves conceiving ideas for brand IPs, generating product concepts, devising content strategies for launches, and contributing to the overarching project concepts.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a simple yet powerful goal: to bring people together and make a positive impact. I want to inspire others and spread happiness through what I do. It’s all about creating a sense of community, making people feel good, and putting smiles on their faces. If I can touch hearts and brighten days, then I consider my mission fulfilled.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that only experts had the authority to contribute valuable insights. This belief led me to doubt my own opinions and hesitate in sharing them. However, I eventually realized that we’re all continuously learning, and diverse perspectives can bring innovation. This understanding empowered me to trust my instincts, share my thoughts confidently, and engage in meaningful collaborations. We’re all just trying to figure things out no matter what age and experience you have, trust your own instincts and opinions!
