Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Martha Jackson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Martha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
A big risk I took was launching The Bubble Lounge Podcast. It might not seem like a huge leap to some, but for me, it was stepping into the unknown. I had a background in media and communications, but I had never been the face—or in this case, the voice—of a project before. I had spent years behind the scenes, helping others shine, but putting myself out there, sharing my voice, and building something from scratch was intimidating.
The idea for The Bubble Lounge came from wanting to create a space where Park Cities moms could connect, laugh, and find support in the unique, fast-paced, and sometimes overwhelming world of raising kids in our community. But in the beginning, I had no idea if people would listen. I worried about what people would think, whether I had enough to say, and if I could keep up with the commitment of producing regular episodes.
Despite my fears, I went for it. The first episodes were nerve-wracking, but over time, I found my rhythm. And the response was incredible. Listeners resonated with the stories we shared, the guests we brought on, and the sense of community we fostered. The podcast has since grown beyond what I initially imagined—it’s become a recognized platform in our area, has led to partnerships with local businesses, and has given me opportunities to connect with amazing people in ways I never expected.
The risk paid off, but more importantly, it taught me that fear is often just the threshold to something great. If I had let my doubts hold me back, I would have missed out on one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Martha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Martha Jackson, the host of The Bubble Lounge Podcast, a show dedicated to sharing the stories and experiences of people in the Park Cities community. I’ve always had a passion for media, storytelling, and community engagement, which ultimately led me to where I am today. My background is in communications, and while I always loved the industry, I spent years working behind the scenes. It wasn’t until midlife that I took the leap to step in front of the mic and create something of my own.
The Bubble Lounge Podcast was born out of a desire to create a space where Park Cities moms—and really, anyone connected to our community—could find a sense of connection and camaraderie. Life here moves fast. Parents juggle school, sports, social events, and everything in between, and I wanted to build a platform that captured those experiences while also shining a light on the incredible people, businesses, and organizations that make our community special.
Through the podcast, I’ve had the opportunity to interview everyone from local business owners and community leaders to sports figures and parenting experts. The goal is always to provide valuable, engaging, and entertaining content—whether it’s getting the inside scoop on Highland Park sports, discussing the challenges of parenting teens, or highlighting local events and causes.
What sets The Bubble Lounge apart is its authenticity and relatability. This isn’t a big corporate production—it’s a real, honest, and sometimes hilarious conversation about the things that truly matter to our listeners. We celebrate the good, navigate the challenges, and always keep it fun and engaging.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how The Bubble Lounge has become a trusted resource and voice for our community. People tune in because they know we genuinely care, and that means everything to me. I’ve also loved how the podcast has created opportunities to support local businesses and causes—whether through interviews, social media promotions, or partnerships.
For anyone new to The Bubble Lounge, I want them to know that this is more than just a podcast—it’s a space where they can feel connected, informed, and entertained. Whether they’re looking for insights into local events, stories from inspiring individuals, or just a good laugh, they’ll find it here. And for businesses looking to reach an engaged audience, I love working on creative ways to help them connect with our listeners through advertising and collaborations.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to create content that brings people together, supports the amazing people and businesses in our area, and keeps our community feeling like home.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building my reputation within the Park Cities community has been a process that’s taken 20 years of active involvement, trust-building, and a deep commitment to the people and businesses here. Long before The Bubble Lounge Podcast was even an idea, I was already deeply embedded in the community through my involvement in various organizations, school events, and local initiatives. Whether it was volunteering, serving on boards, supporting local sports teams, or working on publicity for different causes, I was always engaged and invested in making our community better.
Because of that foundation, when I launched The Bubble Lounge, I already had relationships built on trust. People knew me, and they knew I had a genuine love for this community. But trust isn’t something you’re given—it’s something you earn, and I’ve always been intentional about maintaining that trust in everything I do.
One of the most important ways I’ve done that is by being incredibly selective about the businesses and brands I choose to partner with. I will never recommend or represent a business that doesn’t have a stellar reputation, provide top-notch service, and truly care about the long-term success of its customers. My audience trusts me to only introduce them to businesses that align with the high standards of our community, and I take that responsibility seriously.
I’ve built this reputation by consistently showing up, staying true to my values, and making sure that every recommendation, interview, and collaboration reflects the integrity I expect. I don’t just work with businesses—I get to know them, their values, and their commitment to excellence. If I wouldn’t personally use their product or service, I won’t promote it.
At the end of the day, my reputation has been built on relationships, honesty, and a dedication to uplifting the best of what our community has to offer. The Bubble Lounge isn’t just a podcast—it’s a trusted voice in the Park Cities, and that’s something I’ve worked hard to earn and will always strive to protect.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Absolutely. Being a small business owner and running The Bubble Lounge Podcast while balancing family life is no easy task. There have been countless late nights, moments of self-doubt, and times when I’ve felt completely overwhelmed trying to juggle it all. There have also been plenty of times when I wanted to quit. But what’s kept me going is that, without fail, the days I feel like giving up are the exact days something exciting happens—something that reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.
One of those moments happened not too long ago. I was in the thick of trying to manage everything—scheduling interviews, creating content, handling sponsorships, managing social media, all while keeping up with my family’s busy schedule. I felt stretched too thin, exhausted, and started questioning whether it was all worth it. That same day, I received an unexpected message from a listener. She told me how much The Bubble Lounge meant to her, how it made her feel connected to the community, and how much she looked forward to every episode. She shared that one of our interviews had introduced her to a business that ended up being life-changing for her family.
Those small moments—a message from a listener, a business telling me they saw a boost from being featured, or even just someone stopping me to say they love the show—are what keep me going.
Resilience, for me, has been about pushing through those tough days, knowing that something good is just around the corner. It’s about trusting the process, even when it feels overwhelming. Owning a small business means wearing many different hats, figuring things out as you go, and constantly adapting. It’s challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
At the end of the day, I remind myself that I didn’t come this far just to quit. Every struggle has made me stronger, every challenge has taught me something, and every win—big or small—has reinforced that I’m on the right path.
