We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mar’Tez & Trayvia I Reed. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mar’Tez & Trayvia I below.
Mar’Tez & Trayvia I, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Becoming full-time entrepreneurs, was one of our biggest risks we have ever taken. We both worked traditional jobs and enjoyed the certainty of a steady paycheck. We both struggled to find peace and joy while we worked our jobs for various reasons, but knew one day we would follow our dreams!
After the birth of our sons, we knew it was time to build something for them and show them that anything is possible.
Finally, after much fear and plenty of praying, we took a risk and began working for ourselves full-time.
We found ourselves working harder than ever and got judged greatly, but continued to pray and stay focused.
After months and months of hard work, we took a step back and realized it was one of the greatest risks we could have ever taken. With the support of our family and the works of God, we are still grateful for that risk and hope to inspire others to do the same.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Mar’Tez and Trayvia Iman Reed.
I (Mar’Tez) am a director and editor. I work in various realms of film from documentaries, commercials, etc. I however specialize in music videos. It’s where I began my career and it holds quite a special place in my heart. To me it’s one of the most freeing outlets of creativity.
I (Trayvia Iman) am an abstract painter, focusing on high vibrations and overall great energy.
We are married with two sons and we really love being a family!
In 2020, we sat down and created Latch Films, a Saint Louis, Wedding Videography business.
We focus on love and all the art that it has to bring. All love is different and that is what we aim to capture and display. Most know us for our nostalgic appearance and creative editing style. We love non-traditional weddings and couples that give us the space to be artists.
Latch Films means a lot to us. We are apart of a day that most will never forget, so we do not take our part lightly. All of the couples we have worked with so far are truly like family to us and we want them to know they are forever special to us.
We hope to keep gaining more family and keep creating the most beautiful art, love.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being artists, would be the trust of our clients and their response to the finished product.
Having two people trust us to capture their marriage is a huge honor and it excites us to keep going.
Of course, after months of planning, the big day comes and we get to share that day with them and capture all the details. Once they see their day through our eyes and through the eyes of their guests, the response is magical and very emotional.
We are forever grateful!
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Taking risk can be a struggle for non-creatives to understand or people in general. We believe most people come from a good place and simply want the best for you.
Stepping out of our comfort zone allowed us to reach goals we only dreamt of reaching.
