Marterra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

If I could go back in time I would have started my business sooner. I spent a year doubting myself and being scared to start. I found reasons not to start at that time and kept waiting for the perfect time. I wanted an opportunity to come along instead of creating one for myself. Then I took a year finally taking the steps necessary to start my business. Although I love the journey I know I would have been further along in my business if I believed in myself and trusted God from the beginning.

Marterra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a doula and esthetician. I became a doula after watching my best friend give birth to my god daughter. She had a doula and it made labor better for her. I watched how they interacted with each other and decided I would love to be apart of something as great as that. As time went on I realized a lot of women that go through child birth don’t feel like themselves or even beautiful anymore. So I decided to go to school to be an esthetician so I can help them feel beautiful again through facials, waxing, lashes, brows and various skin treatments.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

A time I was resilient in my journey was when I was searching for a location. I had reached a point where leasing agents were not responding or telling me no. Eventually I got a realtor to help me in my process.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time I had to pivot in my business was when I had to rewrite my business plan 5 times. I had to learn that everyone wont see my vision the same as me because it wasn’t given to them. I had to make small changes to my business so people can easily understand my mission without me having to explain further.
