We recently connected with Marta Swierczek and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Marta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to start your own firm or do you wish you had started sooner?
I feel like I entered real estate at the right time, bringing with me years of experience from the construction industry. My background has allowed me to work closely with clients, manage projects with precision, and understand homes from the inside out. This knowledge, combined with my passion for helping people, gives me a unique advantage in guiding clients through every step of the real estate process.
Marta, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My husband being a general contractor and the start of our construction company opened the door for me into the world of homes. From the very beginning, I was involved in designing, building, and remodeling, working side by side with clients to bring their visions to life. That experience gave me a unique perspective: I don’t just see a house, I understand its structure, its potential, and how to bring out its best.
Real estate felt like a natural next step. It allows me to combine my construction expertise with my love of working with people. I guide my clients not only in buying or selling a property, but also in envisioning possibilities, avoiding costly pitfalls, and making confident decisions.
What sets me apart is the blend of builder-level insight and a genuine commitment to client relationships. I take pride in treating every transaction as if it were my own, offering the kind of honesty, knowledge, and hands-on support that I know makes the process smoother and more rewarding.
At the end of the day, I want my clients to feel that they’re not just buying or selling a property—they’re gaining a trusted partner who truly cares about their goals. That’s what I’m most proud of, and it’s the heart of both my real estate career and our company, Avenue Home Design & Build.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients has always been word of mouth. In our construction business, referrals and personal recommendations were the foundation of our growth, and I’ve found the same to be true in real estate. There’s no greater compliment than when a past client trusts me enough to recommend me to their friends and family. It tells me I’ve not only done my job well but also built a relationship based on trust, and that’s the kind of reputation I want to carry forward in both construction and real estate.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What really helped us build our reputation was our commitment to quality, transparency, and client care. From the very beginning of our construction business, we focused on listening to clients, delivering on promises, and paying attention to every detail—no matter how small. That consistency built trust, and over time, our clients became our biggest advocates. In both construction and real estate, I believe reputation isn’t something you create overnight—it’s earned project by project, relationship by relationship.
