We were lucky to catch up with Marshell Cunningham recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marshell, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
At some point, in life I was a single, divorced, Mom of three children. I wanted to instill into them things that I may not have received from my parents growing up due to lack of knowledge. One of the things I wanted to instill in my children is vision and implementation. As a woman of Christian faith, these are values I wanted to promote. Every New Year, we would complete an exercise of creating vision boards and speaking about the goals we wanted to achieve during the year. We would also review the goals we set the prior year and where we were with them. The prerequisite to setting these goals were to pray to God for guidance, first.
I led by example. I prayed in 2009 and God gave me the inspiration for MVue. The “M” stands for my name Marshell. The “Vue” is french for eyesight or view. In my mind, when I see MVue, I think of “Marshell’s Vision”. At that time, I wrote down a surface plan. I didn’t know how that dream would grow in me and become greater than what I anticipated originally. During the time of the inception of MVue LLC, I was pretty limited in my thinking. I had such parameters on what I could accomplish because I was focused more on what I had and my responsibilities. Being a single-Mom can be daunting. I was afraid initially, and placed this dream on the backburner for years.
The flame of the dream would not die even though I started gaining stride in my career. I also started several leadership roles outside of my job. I now see in hindsight that it was all par for the course because I learned from each of these situations along the way.
Starting up was very intimidating for me, I sat on my vision for quite some time. Alot of people are selling and creating products nowadays. I had to find confidence in what I felt empowered by God to do. I would not shrink from it. I feel as though there is a lane for me. People who are waiting for my creativity and what I have to bring to the table. I look forward to displaying my creativity via my Everything Style Boutique. My Ritzy designs and Affirmations of the Super Life are the start-up decor lines.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
First of All, my name is Marshell Cunningham the owner of MVue LLC and passion is to be creative.
My background spans the love of fashion, interior design, quality of goods, decor, and more. As a teenager, I used to watch all of the shows that piqued my creative interests. One such show was Style with Elsa Klensch. I also took interior design classes in high-school.
As a result, I bring a unique blend of knowledge and expertise to my creative streams, showcasing my love for aesthetics and my meticulous attention to detail. I create statement products. Excellence is my niche and my “Everything Style Boutique” exemplifies this.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn is that my race and gender were disadvantages. I also was looking at my current state instead of using faith to see what could be. In the past, I created walls of fear that prohibited me from launching. What I know now is , God plus nothing is absolutely everything. I don’t have regrets because I’ve learned a lot in my journey but I often reflect on where I would be if I had the courage to just believe what God was leading me to do back in 2009.
The stars will never perfectly align for your dreams to come into fruition. At some point, you just have to do it!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As a new and emerging business, word of mouth by has introduced me to the most new clients. I’m surprised that in conversations my business comes to mind and leaves an indelible impression. I’m so encouraged and it further cements me in my ethics for excellence.
For example, I was blessed to create Ritzy Bags for a Community Baby Shower hosted by Barnes Jewish Hospital and other entities within St. Louis County. The referral came due to my continued partnership with the Wellness Center ran by Taylor Bass.
