We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marsha Guerrier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marsha, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
Certainly. HerSuiteSpot primarily serves an underserved community of women of color entrepreneurs. Our Academy is designed to provide vital support, resources, and opportunities tailored specifically to address the unique challenges and needs faced by this demographic. Through our programs, we aim to empower women of color with the tools, knowledge, and connections necessary to thrive in their entrepreneurial journeys.
The significance of bolstering this marginalized community revolves around the pervasive systemic obstacles and hurdles encountered by women of color in accessing resources and avenues for business advancement. Historically, women of color have been disproportionately underrepresented in entrepreneurship and face barriers such as limited access to funding, mentorship, and networks.
By focusing on this underserved demographic, HerSuiteSpot seeks to create a more equitable landscape where women of color have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive in entrepreneurship. Through our initiatives, we aim to break down barriers, foster inclusivity, and empower women of color to realize their full potential and make significant contributions to their industries and communities. Supporting women of color in business isn’t just about individual success—it’s about driving systemic change and creating a more equitable and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem for all.

Marsha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey began with a deeply personal experience of feeling undervalued and underrepresented in the workforce, a sentiment shared by many women of color. Determined to create change, I embarked on a mission to provide women who look like me with the opportunities and support they deserve to build successful businesses.
As a woman of color, I experienced firsthand the lack of opportunities and resources available to individuals like myself. Determined to change this narrative, I founded HerSuiteSpot with the vision of providing women who look like me the chance to build businesses that their counterparts were building. Leveraging my background in business and software development, I set out to equip women with the knowledge and resources they need to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality.
Our organization provides a diverse mix of services, including community, coaching, and access to capital, all tailored specifically to meet the needs of women of color entrepreneurs. From educational programs like the HerSuiteSpot Academy to networking events and access to funding through initiatives such as the HerRise MicroGrant, we provide a holistic approach to addressing the challenges faced by women of color in business. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community where women can not only access valuable resources but also find encouragement, mentorship, and camaraderie along their entrepreneurial journeys.
I am incredibly proud of the impact HerSuiteSpot has had in empowering women of color to pursue their passions and achieve their goals. Through our programs and initiatives, we’ve seen countless women overcome obstacles, realize their potential, and make meaningful strides in their businesses. For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that HerSuiteSpot is more than just a brand – it’s a movement dedicated to championing the success and empowerment of women of color in entrepreneurship.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My journey with HerSuiteSpot began as a side hustle, driven by a deep desire to empower women of color who, like me, felt undervalued in the workforce and aspired to build their own businesses. Balancing a full-time job while nurturing a fledgling business demanded resilience and dedication, but I was fueled by the impact I knew we could make. As HerSuiteSpot grew, so did our impact – we’ve helped women of color increase their revenue by an impressive 30%, a milestone I’m incredibly proud of. Securing partnerships with corporations and sponsors has been pivotal, not only in scaling up our offerings but also in solidifying our mission to support and uplift women of color entrepreneurs.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
