Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to MARSHA BAILEY-WOODARD. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
MARSHA, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started sooner or later?
Do I wish to start my own real estate company in the future? Yes, that is my dream. From a young age, I’ve always dreamt of having my own corporation called “Bailey Enterprises”. I didn’t know what “Bailey Enterprises” would do, but I knew that’s what I wanted. Once I discovered my love and passion for real estate, I knew that was it. Everything I do, I do with the intention to become “Bailey Enterprises”. My goal in the next 5 to 10 years is to establish and operate my own real estate and property management company.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been in the real estate industry since 2003. I started out as a receptionist at a real estate title company. From there I worked my way to become a settlement processor. Since then, I’ve gained experience as a mortgage loan processor and a real estate paralegal. I became a real estate agent in 2016 but didn’t feel ready to jump in at that time. In January 2020, I decided to take the leap and go into real estate sales full-time with eXp Realty. Little did I know what was coming around the corner in a couple of months. In March 2020 the world essentially stopped. Trying to find my way as a new real estate agent, learning as much as I could, and trying to get clients was daunting. But, I never thought about giving up. Being a real estate agent and helping people live their dream of either purchasing their first home, selling and downsizing, investing to build wealth, or persons going through life changes brings me joy. Seeing my clients with big smiles on their faces after they accomplished their real estate goals is what keeps me going every day. Far from popular belief, real estate is not as easy as it may appear. The initial investment of time and resources to obtain the necessary licenses and establish myself in the field can be daunting, but the potential rewards are significant with a fulfilling career helping individuals find their dream homes or sell their properties makes it all worth it.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The majority of my business comes from referrals. Building genuine relationships is very important to me. I’ve been told that people love working with me because I am patient, kind, and relatable. Being a person, not just an agent that people can trust is paramount to my daily life and business.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Being in the real estate industry for the last 20 years, I have experienced many ups and downs. The real estate industry can be a roller coaster that can include job loss. With all the changes and difficulties that came about, I never gave up on my dream of becoming a real estate agent. Real estate is a passion of mine (along with traveling) and it’s something I would never give up on.
