We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marrissa Padilla a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marrissa, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I started this clothing boutique because after becoming a mom, my body was different. I wanted to start something that housed clothing that works for mothers and women in general. Our bodies are so spectacular and magical and it has been my mission to create a safe space for us to feel comfortable. That safe space is fashion!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been in the retail industry for about 11 years. I was a stylist at BCBGeneration and that’s really where my love for putting outfits together was born. Eat, Drink & Be Fashionable isn’t just a women’s clothing boutique. I’m here to help you with any style questions you may have. From just having a baby and trying to find you again, to career changes…..I’m your personal stylist and go to chick for all things fashion!
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
This boutique is my baby. Meaning I care for it with my own money. There have been no financial “hand me downs”. That’s why this business is so special to me and I always want it to do well

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I shop for all of my products. Everything you see on the site is handpicked by me, and I have much pride in that. It’s all about quality and comfort when I purchase inventory. It’s such a delicate process when finding a vendor who aligns with my style and the overall quality of what I’m looking for. I have my customers in mind and always ask “how will customers feel when they put this on?” What I’ve learned throughout this process is, never ever skimp on quality. Never try to cut corners on your products because it hurts you in the long run. Always think of your customers when it comes to the products you provide. If you’re excited about a product, so will your customers.
