We recently connected with Marquita Henderson and have shared our conversation below.
Marquita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Confetti and Elegance was brought to life with the desire of creating a memorable event for my mother’s 50th birthday. What began as a desire to make this special day one to remember, it quickly turned into a passion.
It was truly a leap of faith, and going full speed ahead. I remember driving back from our second event, brainstorming business names.
Even though I was afraid of the business not being successful, I was surrounded by so much support and love from family and friends. I have always been creative, but now I get the opportunity to share my drive and talent with others, celebrating them during their special moments.
My team and I believe that each event deserves a sprinkle of confetti and a dash of elegance to every event.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Confetti and Elegance is a small, woman owned event planning and design business. We specialize in all things celebratory. Whether it’s a child’s first birthday party, a nonprofit Christmas party, or a bridal shower. We do it all.
I think what sets us apart is our passion and love for each and every event we do. To be able to bring someone’s vision to life, during such an important moment of their lives, is truly something special.
I am grateful for each opportunity where I get to display my creative talents and share such intimate occasions with clients.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My mother is the backbone of Confetti and Elegance. She is the reason I started the business. Each time we have an event, we meet about ideas, logistics, and the overall outcome of each event.
One of the most important aspects I appreciate after each event we do is, we ask each other “what went well? And what could we do better next time?”
To have my mother as a business partner and my biggest cheerleader wrapped in one, is the best!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building our platform on social media is one of our biggest challenges and goals. Although our following is small, we truly acquire most of our events by word of mouth.
Growing on social media can be a daunting challenge, but slowly and steadily we are growing. Our social media numbers grew after we posted our viral bridal shower reel (in our eyes viral)! It gained so many views, likes and shares, that we were just blown away.
My advice, and my advice to myself is to keep going. Continue putting out great content. Even if the reel or post doesn’t perform the way you had hoped, someone saw it. And because someone saw it, they saw you and your passion!
