Alright, Marquise thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I’ve always have the mind of a business owner, watching my father on his own business. My father been into the movie entertainment allow me access to a lot of actors , rappers and entrepreneurs. Having a uncle Like DB who showed my how to run a successful clothing business. S/0 my big homie Crid Bo he showed me how to build a brand. Mistah Fab Oakland Icon has played a huge part in my career what make it unique is his ability to communicate with me and give a understanding about been a entrepreneur. I didn’t look up to a lot of people but my big cousin Lil O showed me how to stack money witch in return has allowed me to maintain my business and still taking care of bills . The birth of my daughter really made me focus on my goals. Been a single father raising a daughter from 6moths till now she 16 and it’s challenging we have our ups and downs . I had to grow up as a man. Learn how to be understanding learning with her even been a cheer dad. The most important part and blessing for me is my daughter is graduating a year early from high school as a junior she already have 195 credits its January. But I can’t take all the credit both of her mothers do a wonderful job brothers MarMar DaDa and Rell stay on her her God parents who just got married Speddy and his wife . Also Godparents Celly and his wife . All 8 uncles and all 8 sisters I have . She knows what she wants in life works two jobs but still spends my money. Lessons I learn from been a dad is listening to my daughter also not pretending I know what I do is if I do t no I say let’s learn together. Kids see through Bull shit . So Madison is my motivation to be successful. I’ve always been a hustler growing up in the city of Oakland California. As a kid, we are having dreams that either been a rapper football player basketball player. At first I want it to be a rapper. So me and my brother Tay call ourselves starting a rap group. Well, Tae was very talented at rapping one of my favorite rappers. (Free Tay) . So one day we go to the studio with Musa to do a song and I cannot get bars down didn’t know how to count bars so I said I’m going back to the block. As I started to walk out Miss Unique also known as Lady Unique who’s one of the most lyrically females in the rap industry who also is from my Hood Funk Town said to me why don’t you be the manager . From that day forward I started educating myself, and being that P Diddy is one of my idols. It really motivated me to start my own entertainment company me and my cousins Owen Dunson & Marcellus Motley. Starting a podcast network Independent Road To Success Podcast Network along with All Factz Sports Network on YouTube with my cousins Dc , Sp DIp . Lil D Mal Been able to have multiple business with some of my friends and family has been a blessing and yes we do have arguments fights disagreements but as are slogan goes Unity Means Growth Together As One .

All Factz Sports Network. Me building this empire has given me the opportunity to give some of my friends opportunities to either build their own brand help me create content, and also putting them in position to be CEOs. I’ve had obstacles as we started to build UMG brand
I was able to overcome obstacles by having mentors in the entertainment industry from likes of my father ,my brother Mark Spencer Unc DB Bedford,Mistah Fab Miss Unique Nina Burnside , Stone Ramsey ,Myron Miller Miss Reading Cory Smith , Montrell Henderson , my cousin DUBB20 Berry Accius Marcus Nuch Carter , Keith Owens Miss Carter , Elissa Scott , Clifford McDowell, Calvin Aka Killa big cuz Chiffon Buckner Kenny Tweed , 4Rax , RebTheRuler GoldToes , Derrick DRek Gstack .Each one of these unique individuals has played a pivotal part in my success been able to reach out to them and ask questions about the business part and they would give me advice that I needed. Even some of them reaching out to me if they see me making a decision that they know is wrong. So when it comes to my mistakes I try not to make them because of the people who I have surround myself around . Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Going through my divorce after been married 16 years . I fell into a deep depression to the point of not coming out of my room not eating I had completely gave up on my journey as far as built this brand. As I stated before, when you have a strong team around you, they will pick you up. my best friend Keshawn Hollins (RIP) was the person who made me realize I still had to live . One day he finally came over and took the plastic off my windows. I had my house dark and I quote as I’m laying on the couch his exact words you don’t get yo ass off this couch and get back focused. Do you have custody of your daughter who you’ve been raising since she was six months at the time she was 12 years old he grabbed me up off my couch. Mind you, my best friend was a former UFC fighter looked me dead in my eye, and said when I get off work, you better hide your ass in that studio and getting ready to Chase success . A month later, my best friend was tragically killed, so I slept back into a depression my little brother Marque stopped what he was doing and moved in with me and start really been a person who kept telling me my worth, and who I was as a man. When I started this business, it was very few that believed in me, but my biggest fan was my little brother. JERM who I was hella close to my twin . So as I am mourning the loss of my best friend my brothers, Markay , and Jerm became pivot . Mind you, my cousin Marsellus, who is more like a brother had got locked up and this was the person who would be able to understand me and have my back then my mentor Keith Owens moves so I have so much hurt, anger, depression, that it got to a point where I was ready to take my life. Jerm hit me one day. And said brother I’m proud of you as a man. A year before losing my best friend I have lost my cousin Rio who was my biggest fan but worst critic. After I started to get my mind back focus I revived News my twin my brother JERM was killed in Ohio. This devastated me two the point I was once again I was depressed having Miss Hawkins really make me understand what my purpose was . So from April 16, 2021 I was going to make sure I put my hurt and pain into my Brand . Unfortunately I was hit this past month with the worst news any man or woman father or mother could receive my son Booda passed away but I new I had to be strong for his mother sister brother and daughter Danielle.. So when it comes to resilience I was able to take my pain and turn it into my gain God is great.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

When running a business and having business partners you have to understand everyone is different. Also understanding what everyone strengths and weaknesses. Building upon each of my partners strengths . Example Miss Hawkins is very business minded she have work for corporate companies and working close with owners of companies so that’s why she is the president of the Unity Empire. Owen been the other CEO of UMG he knows a lot of entrepreneurs and also financially helping with the development of UMG. I can say President of Unity Media Group and founder of Network AllFactzSports Mal is someone who will make sure I stay on my shit . He has been a huge part of the success of The whole Empire him and his wife my sis who is a huge part of the production. S/o too the legal department my baby sister Brittany . Let me not forget my big cousin Chris Howard who is a mentor someone who has no problem checking me when I’m wrong but more importantly he always tell me how proud he is of me that go a long way. Sister Beverly also is one of the main reasons I know who I am as a man she gave her little brother that tuff big sister love but it worked and I can call my sister for anything anytime same go with Ebony Britt aka pit bull Sp Karolyn Lil’ sis sparkle nina Casey Darielle Keka . The reason I’m able to maintain high morale is because we all know our mission statement witch is Unity Means Growth We’re we work together As 1
