We recently connected with Marquis Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquis , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy would be that people remember me as a genuine, hardworking being. My real legacy will start with my daughters Madisyn & Meila. I plan on giving them everything i work hard for as in establishing them as their own business owner someday.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Marquis, I am a 34 year-old college graduate that minor in business. I have successfully established myself in the business of fashion with creating my own clothing brand. I got into the business because I’ve been infatuated with fashion since I was in elementary. Obsessed with all the new brands that was popular at the time. I always been a creative junky so I’ decided to put one of my talents to use as in designing my own apparel. It all start with making custom shoes and custom pants in high school. I later grew more accustomed to the latest fashion in hip hop. I want to start my own wave. I created EPIK CLOTHING in 2019. I’ve had good days and bad days but that what comes with sustaining a business. Never quit on yourself! I have graphic shirts, women apparel, men apparel, and fitness apparel. Working on a hat brand also. Good customer service is key. Do right by people and people will do right by you and will continue to shop with you. I’m blessed but it’s so much more I want and more work to do for my business.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
It all started with getting a shirt press, a cricut machine, and the rest was history. I later learned more of how to create and utilize other objects to make some of the process to accelerate. Even making the task easier by using Direct to Garment transfers which is a big thing in the shirt industry. I put money aside from orders just to use it to get more inventory. My 9-5 helps mainly. The goal is to never work for another company again.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
It was time I felt complacent. No ideas, no support, just felt like giving up. A lot of time it was not getting the support I thought I needed but it’s the people who don’t know me that supported more. I channel my focus toward those people. Every since I changed my mindset it’s been going well so far.
