We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marquis Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marquis, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I always had a desire to be behind the camera. Even from a young age. I went to high school and took up tv productions. That was my doorway into how deep the world of photography/Cinematography goes.So i do what anyone else do, and went to YouTube university to learn about all the ins and outs.
I wouldn’t do anything to speed up the process. Through those trial and errors is what helped me figure out my own style and eye for what I’m capturing.
In this field or in anything I’ve learned that consistency and perseverance are your best friends. Skills that can’t be taught but essential on you moving forward in life.
You learn early on how much you can stand in your own way. My own doubt kept me paralyzed a lot of times from trying things or fully bringing things to its truest potential. Can’t say I’m completely over that but I’ve learned to fight back.

Marquis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m multitalented (so I’ve been told lol) I’m a artist, a photographer, a videographer/cinematographer, and curate events all under the name of our Production company LrK productions. Initially started out only making music, even though the camera was my first love. Music was the first thing I decided to take a chance on and it started paying off. Throughout that journey I also knew it was more I could do or provide for myself and others under the company. That’s when I picked up the camera and started shooting our photos and videos as well. At any show we had or events we put together. My determination to improve was always my key in disciplining myself to stay consistent. While doing this for the artist I worked with I started getting attention from people outside wanting my services as well. Once I got into photography/videography industry and providing media services the business grew to a point beyond what I originally foresaw. It’s funny because now I’m known more for that work (lol). I just put together a monthly tier level service for content creators too. I look for ways to help out creatives who want to put our quality work but may not have the funds to afford the services they need to create. Always looking to help any way I can and be of service.Proud if the people I have around me now. We are truly building a team and a culture that I stand behind.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Staying true to myself and showing up as my authentic self. Providing a service I would want if I was the client and putting them first in regards to what they want. Willing to go above and beyond to put out the best work possible. In a good time span.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
It’s a world I want to dive into by the end of the year. It’s a whole new space and market to tap into. Everything is going virtual now a days. It only makes sense to learn about this vast new virtual space.
