Marquis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?

Personally, I have experienced an extreme amount of entrepreneurial gatekeeping. Maybe my predecessors are intimidated by the skill level of the upcoming generations. Instead of embracing the innovations initiated by future creatives, it just seems that I have commonly been met with resistance.

Yes, I’d like to create a platform that helps individuals the way I aspired to be helped as an entrepreneur.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

Sometimes I had to get a job and other times I was able to obtain grants from various creative foundations. Whatever opportunity presented itself (in regards to funding my dream) often seemed like an obligation but only to progress my vision.
