We were lucky to catch up with Marquesha Mikell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Marquesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned what I do by watching videos, being in Facebook groups, and doing my investigation on what services/products I wanted to offer. Honestly, nothing could have sped up my learning process. What’s most essential is staying open minded to gaining more knowledge on what I do. My only obstacle lol is time management. That was a real sticky part I needed to learn.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Of course! My name is Marquesha. I’ve been running a event styling, graphic design, and personalization business for four years called Amenity Visions. We offer a variety of services and products; balloon decor, boutonnières, cake toppers, logos, and much more. I think what sets me apart is great customer service and giving my clients an authentic finish product .Bringing my client’s vision to the forefront, and seeing their reaction of the outcome is what make me proud. I would like for potential clientele to know that us working together to create bring me much triumph in the end, and hope that I excel past their outlook each time we collaborate.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth and Facebook have played major key parts in growing clientele. Having good business practices and customer service is really beneficial to the word of mouth.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes, building business credit. Having that will help fund your business and take care of many things in your life.. Working a 9-5 to fund your business is a great resource I wish I knew my first year.
