We recently connected with Marquavis` Fant and have shared our conversation below.
Marquavis`, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken was leaving my Job as an Business Banker at Wells Fargo to pursue my dreams as a Private Chef. I left my job in the middle of the pandemic in 2020, it was exciting and scary at the same time. The thing that helped me with my decision to go full on Entrepreneurship was having enormous faith in God and believing that he wouldn’t let me fail. This October will be four years that I walked away from my job and I haven’t looked back. I believe this life was painted for me to live throughout my purpose. Ive always felt in my soul that I would be successful at anything Ive done, but betting on myself has truly showed me how beautiful life can be when you’re living your dream.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I became a Private Chef because cooking has always been an undeniable talent of mine. Cooking comes so natural to me that I believe I can do it blindfolded. As a young child I picked up on cooking early, I would get most of my inspiration from my grandmother when she would cook anything I would be right there by her side watching. Growing up in Flint MI, you were either book smart, very athletic or unfortunately a victim of the environment. Majority of my friends were athletes and for me not having any athletic abilities at all I figure out early that sports wouldnt be my route to success, lol. I always knew I could cook but I started taking it really serious around my sophomore-junior year of High School. After High School I would try college but later found out it wasnt for me. That wouldnt be the end for me though, I begin to work different jobs to find my niche and sooner than later I would be able to service my community by setting up shop to sell food, as I would create daily menus for the community to shop from.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I thing the best engine that helped me building Reputation with my market is having a great product as well as great customer Service and consistency.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth has been a blessing to my business. Recurring customers of my business make sure its their business to refer me to new potential clients.
