Maroc , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

My story starts with self worth. To be able to bring education and worth with spiritual enlightenment has always been the goal. I started with an idea to bring consciousness to the forefront. Maroc Horus was a concept conceived to love an support that very idea. Being bold enough to tackle status quo on the idea’s that have revised history. I take on that position by being proactive with the metaphysical. Crystals, amulets, incense bundles, oils etc.. are just one simple part of the bigger picture (although they make me profits), the real reward comes from being able to educate and create spaces of dialogue to give credit where it due in history. I get to expound on that through my social media, website, and podcasts.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Maroc Horus centers its focus mostly around the spiritual concept if Kemetism and a bit of Hoodoo. I delve into the practices by creating candles, incense bundles, charms, apothecary, etc. My goal is to educate and create a free fall of spiritual experiences. People love Astrology, why not learn more about the original astrological concept, from Egypt. Kemetic astrology is a focus on my social pages and website because its important to understand the Egyptian astrology system in which it was originally intended. The knowledge always goes spiritually hand and hand with the physical.

The more you learn about spirituality the more you know about life. To be one with nature. Knowing how to create it, use it, and understand it. You’ll learn how nature can be utilized to invoke the best of self. And thats what I intend when making my products. What made this so successful for me I believe comes from being open and honest with followers, inviting feedback online and in person before profit is even thought about. I ran Tarot free for months before I even charged a single person. Made rings and amulets as good gestures to build a love and appreciation before profit. That selfless approach has given me the open floor for critique so that I can weed out the faults and kinks.

I have alot to be proud of when it comes to Maroc Horus. I started it in 2017 and have just been learning the entire time. Between 2017 and now I have been published and interviewed with Yahoo, Business insider, Boston Herald, Influencive, and now Canvas Rebel Magazine!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I think its important to recognize your audience and whats drawing them in. I believe you will always have a core audience that looks forward with the standard idea of what your brand is about, but at some point you also want to expand beyond that norm a bit. You can still present your brand as normal but if you do find a certain topic really excels, I say keep picking at it. Its working.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

Absolutely, I use academic databases to vet my topics as fact. NCBI, UNESCO, Jstor, Sage, or other prestigious Universities that work great. I have a podcast #StraightFacts by Maroc Horus. Me and my co-hosts host a topic. Usually that topic is about history but we also delve into current topics called “The Breakdown”. With the #StraightFacts podcast you are not getting your standard history, we all have our resources and we build a discussion around the facts. Many topics can be interpreted as even controversial like “Ancient Black American History”. The topic is a real hit and talks about the topic of Black people already living in America pre-Columbus. Using a varying amount of metrics and sources to make that case including 3 volumes from Harvard University. I also have my own credentials as I recently earned my Masters degree in Psychology this February. I earned it during Black History Month, and I am Black History. Learning more of my hidden history helped me be proud to be a Black American.
