Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marnisha Hunt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marnisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
God put me on this earth to inspire others. To encourage them, and push them to grow into who He’s created them to be. I have a burning desire to see people chase God. To see themselves the way He sees them! I believe that spills over into my life behind the chair. I’m constantly praying over my clients because I believe we are in a world where we need men to rise up and be the true leaders God birthed them to be!
My mission is not only to help men BECOME, but to help anyone I cross paths with know our Source and to have a true, meaningful, intimate relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

Marnisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the hair industry for almost 11 years. 5 of those years I’ve worked as a Barber because I fell in love with cutting during cosmetology school. As a barber AND braider, I specialize in men’s hair-care, providing them with the knowledge & tools to retain length & to see healthy growth.
Along with hair growth, I like to talk to my clients about their own personal growth & goals. I try to provide a safe-space for men to feel heard & cared for. My goal is for them to get in my chair and feel pampered, and well taken care of. I do this by offering 3 different haircut options, hot towel\head massages with every cut, braid & cut combos, shampoos, deep conditions, hot oil treatments & beard steaming treatments. This allows them to leave feeling like a completely new man.
I am most proud of being able to stay true to who I am, while being in a male dominated industry. I also feel respected by my surrounding clients & colleagues by doing so.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was working in a barbershop In Lawrenceville & I absolutely loved my job. I was on commission, working to become the manager. I thought everything was going well but I ended up getting fired. I was so confused I kept telling God I didn’t understand. But I decided to take that as my sign to turn it up a notch & trust God with a leap.
Since I had no income, I got up everyday to get cute and go pass out business cards EVERYWHERE. Malls, plazas, construction sites, restaurants, grocery stores. I was so determined to grow my clientele and get my name out there. 2 weeks after I got fired a miracle happened. A shop owner called me to work in his shop and I didn’t even apply. God is amazing.
Along with faith, I had the courage to keep going. My clientele tripled in 6 months.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I use theCut app, which helps me to keep client phone numbers & notes about their hair/appointments on file. I’m able to offer a point system for my clients to receive rewards & also a referral program for both the client & the referral to receive $$ off of a service. I also give my clients 50% off haircuts for their birthdays. Just a little something to show that this isn’t about me getting rich off of them, but that I truly appreciate & care about them AND their pockets! lol
