We recently connected with Marlon D and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marlon , thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was 15 years old

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Marlon D. I have been a touring hip hop artist that has been releasing albums and mixtapes since 2005 on a yearly basis. I have been an opening act as well for hip hop icons and legends since 2005, constantly hitting the road non stop. I also pursued acting and have done my share of supporting and lead roles in theatre plays, short films and independent films. I also started a podcast in Oct 2020 dedicated to hip hop commentary and mental health. The name of my podcast is MD Podcast now available on all streaming platforms

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I learned resilience through out the years. I have been homeless, broke, with no moral support from friends and loved ones. I know how it feels to hit rock bottom and I know how it feels for my mental health to deteriorate. But I’ve been actively seeking out professional help and support, and continue to have communication with trusted friends. My faith in God has also been my savior

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn a lot of my culture, and i had a lot of healing to do for my inner child. Currently learning how to put myself first, stand up for myself when needed, and still learning how to believe in myself and my brand when it feels like no one supports me. I have to be fearless in pursuing my dreams and taking risks
