We were lucky to catch up with Marlon & Camille Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marlon & Camille, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As a young married couple enjoying life together, we unfortunately found ourselves at our heaviest weights of 205lbs (Camille) and 475lbs (Marlon), and facing health issues like PCOS and diabetes at an early age. We knew that we needed to make a true change for our health, and wanted to stop selling ourselves short by making excuses.
Instead of continuing down a path fueled by an unhealthy lifestyle, we sought out on a journey of consistency, knowledge, and understanding. We focused on looking pass the scale and putting the our efforts towards creating better habits that we could sustain and enjoy.
After just 8 months of focus and consistency, we managed to lose 170lbs together! Like so many other people, we struggled for years with weight loss and building better habits that would benefit our health. Once we figured out how to overcome some of those life-holding habits, we understood that our purpose was now to help others change their lives too.
Now, as coaches, (Marlon-Certified Personal Trainer, Camille-Certified Nutrition Coach), our mission is to provide people with the resources to be successful on their own journey of consistency towards a healthier life.
Marlon & Camille, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a husband and wife team that have taken the successes and failures we endured during our weight loss journey together, and simplified these tools so others can experience that same success.
We help people who have always struggled with their weight, find the healthy habits that will work for their lifestyle. We specialize in helping others who have struggled with dieting and weight loss, make the changes necessary to lose weight and change their lives forever… not just for now! We are known for our “Eat Better” Cookbook and various Workout Programs. We are also known for our tips, recipes, and workouts that we share throughout our social media platforms.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
While we initially started our social media account to hold ourselves accountable and share our weight loss journey with others, it quickly turned into us inspiring and motivating others which revealed the bigger picture to us, which was serving our new purpose and helping others.
We knew one way we could successfully do this was to continue sharing our journey with others on social media and providing them with helpful information on how they could find the same success in weight loss that we did.
Our biggest advice for anyone trying to build their social media presence is to be yourself and as authentic as possible. One of the most common compliments that we get are people thanking us for showing them the “the real side” of weight loss for average everyday people. Showing the struggles is important because it is part of the journey, so just being transparent and honest can really be helpful.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
We believe what has helped us build our reputation of providing people with the tools and resources they need for a balanced healthy lifestyle, is being realistic. Unfortunately in the health and wellness industry, there are many people who make false claims, promote unhealthy tactics, promote extreme dieting, and more, whereas, we have always tried to present realistic expectations, manageable approaches, and overall natural wellness focused information.
