Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marlena Werdebaugh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marlena thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Many people believe that to accomplish a specific goal there is a specific way to do it. Everyone has their methods and things that they learn along the way. The real truth lies in experience and begins when you stop letting other people shape your reality with their opinions. Becoming a model is something anyone can do, finding a lifestyle within the realm of it that suits your artistic and ambition preference is up to you. I’m happiest when I am confident in my decisions but expectant of flaw and expecting of deviation. To prepare yourself for any error will help you succeed in what you love. Correcting the mistakes we see in ourselves compared to our goals is walking to success. There’s nothing you cannot do in this industry if you make a plan to make it happen: point blank.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My stage is name is Saturn Werde and in 2017 I started calling myself a model. I have always loved being in front of the camera and creating artwork so to become the medium was only synergistic. As someone who understands art I try to bring my knowledge of composition into my craft, I traveled for almost 2 years barely making enough to get by but making enough to catch the bus to the next photographer. In that time my modeling became my therapy, every shoot was a session and opportunity to look into my own soul and see what I could reflect. I gained so much insight and experience for life, love and modeling I knew I wanted to become this enigmatic being who lived to pursue artistic and psychological ambiguities to become more cultured and keep my heart new with every soul that touches it. The thing I think sets apart a great shoot from a normal one is pursuing the connection you can form when you allow yourself to be vulnerable in heart, mind and body. In these instances,This has to come from all parties involved to make something truly beautiful and universally relatable happen.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think we could create more opportunities for artists and engineers to work hand in hand to help our society become more connected. I personally think teaching more about application of theoretical and abstract thought could help society not just help other artists: but create a more self-reliant community.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I don’t think there is any err to practical and tactful personalities. There is a very needed place in the structure of the world we built together that needs concrete thinkers to continue the mathematical equations that maintain the structure of society. What these brilliant minds may not understand is how in their habits they have created a needed synergy. Where as the artist pursues a dissonance- a beautiful one. A dissonance with no purpose but to contrast reality with theory and thought. No purpose but to expand what could be out of curiosity and wonder instead of practicality and function.
