We were lucky to catch up with Markeysha Donald recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Markeysha, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I definitely wish that I would have started this business sooner! I started this business during the pandemic and I was working for the hospital, so I got to see the worst parts of what the pandemic did to our society. Starting this business earlier in life would have meant more time to build my brand, get financially stable, and learn this business inside and out. I trust God’s timing and I know that all of is happening the way that it’s supposed to.

Markeysha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Keysha and I am the co-owner of Smells Like Dessert Candles! We carefully hand craft dessert scented candles, room sprays, wax melts, carpet deodorizers, and hand soaps. We cater to folks that don’t want to settle for Fresh Linen or Hawaiian Breeze, instead we offer decadent scents like Watermelon Lemonade, Peaches and Mint Julep, Butterscotch and Bourbon! Our products are thoughtfully made to leave long lasting scents to make your feel comfort and joy!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
We absolutely LOVE all of our customers!!! Our strategy has always been to bring our products to the masses by attending as many events and markets as we can! We love the face to face interactions that we have with people, they can smell and enjoy our products and we get to experience the joy our products bring to people!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that what helped build our reputation within our market is our consistent presence with community events and the uniqueness of what we offer!
