Marketa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
Majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics at FIU, my education has been a multifaceted journey, blending the science of nutrition with practical, real-world applications. The rigorous program provided a strong professional foundation in clinical nutrition, where I learned to assess and manage nutrition-related health issues across various populations, from children to the elderly. Advanced nutrition courses deepened my understanding of biochemistry and dietetics, allowing me to fully grasp how intricately diet affects the human body. One of the most eye-opening aspects of my education was the emphasis on the psychological dimensions of nutrition, particularly how our relationship with food can significantly influence overall health. I firmly believe that nutrition and psychology must go hand in hand. Conducting evidence-based research and employing critical thinking daily has underscored the importance of using data to inform my practice, ensuring the care I provide is grounded in the latest scientific knowledge. This well-rounded education at FIU has not only equipped me to understand the complexities of nutrition but also to be a leader in shaping the future of the field in a modern world.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a nutritionist originally from the Czech Republic, with a rich academic journey that spans both my home country and the United States. I spent a significant portion of my academic life in the USA, where I’m currently in Miami, completing my final year at Florida International University, with a major in Nutrition and Dietetics.
My mission is to share this passion and knowledge with others, helping them to unlock their full potential through personalized nutrition strategies. Every client I work with is a unique journey, and it’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive changes that tailored nutrition can bring to their lives.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe that mentorship and networking are absolutely essential for succeeding in the field of nutrition and dietetics. Working with mentors has been one of the most valuable aspects of my journey. Their guidance, support, and insight have helped me navigate complex cases, broaden my perspectives, and build confidence in my abilities. Mentors offer a sense of direction and push you to grow in ways that might not be possible on your own.
Networking has also been crucial, as it allows me to stay connected to the latest advancements in the field and collaborate with like-minded professionals. Being part of a community, whether through professional organizations, conferences, or even social media, keeps me engaged and motivated. Another important factor is having strong interpersonal skills—nutrition is deeply personal, and being able to empathize with clients and communicate effectively is key to building trust and fostering long-term success. Ultimately, it’s a combination of mentorship, networking, and human connection that helps drive success in this field.

Any advice for managing a team?
It requires a combination of clear communication, trust, and fostering a supportive environment. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of setting clear expectations while also giving team members the autonomy to take ownership of their roles. Empowering your team to make decisions not only builds confidence but also encourages creativity and innovation.
Maintaining high morale also involves creating a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. Encouraging personal development and offering constructive feedback in a way that supports growth can make a huge difference in how motivated people feel.
Lastly, I believe it’s vital to lead by example; when team members see their leader demonstrating positivity, resilience, and commitment, it inspires the same qualities in them. I’m incredibly thankful for my team, whose dedication and support continually motivate me to be the best leader I can be.
