We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mark Lederman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mark below.
Mark, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
In many ways, Independent companies like TRW Entertainment have the unique advantage of flexibility and a personal touch that’s larger corporations often lack.
One distinct way in which many Independent companies diverge from the industry standard is through their commitment to authenticity and community engagement. For instance, instead of purely focusing on profit margins, you might prioritize collaboration with local artists or highlight underrepresented genres that larger companies often overlook. This approach not only helps in cultivating a loyal fan base but also contributes to a more diverse and inclusive music landscape.
A compelling story that illustrates this difference might involve a local artist whose work doesn’t fit the traditional mold but resonates deeply with your community. By providing them with a platform—be it through gigs, collaborations, or promotion—you may have contributed not just to their success but also to the enrichment of the local music scene. This emphasizes that your brand operates more as a curator and supporter of music rather than just a business entity, reinforcing the idea that passion drives your strategy.
Additionally, your readiness to pivot and adapt demonstrates an understanding of the ever-evolving nature of music and business. This agility can be crucial in responding to new trends or audience preferences, showing that the music industry is not just about following a standard roadmap, but about embracing change and fostering a culture of creativity.
Ultimately, what sets your brand apart is that it embodies a lifestyle and a mission, creating a space where everyone—from artists to fans—feels valued and connected. This passion and commitment to the music community highlight the foundational difference between Independent and larger corporations, reminding us all that music is more than just a product; it’s a vital cultural force and a lifestyle for those who dedicate there lives to the culture and progression of the business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My musical journey started when I was 10 years old picking the saxophone as my instrument of choice in elementary school and that’s where the journey began for me and as the years went on I became obsessed with perfecting my craft and exploring and pushing the boundaries of my music abilities. By the time I was 15 I was attending the Juliard fame program at the Lawrenceville school in Princeston, NJ and was playing with the best musicians in the world performing symphonic masterpieces and then improvising heavy solos with the Jazz band! I continued my studies after high school by getting excepted to the prestigious Berklee College of music in Boston, Ma where I continued playing and studying music theory , composition and production as well as attending performances, lectures and master classes by some of the greatest musicians to ever grace the stage! My major of choice was “ Music Business “ and that’s where my focuse changed and my journey began on where I am today!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I moved to Los Angeles, Ca in the summer of 2015 where I worked as a caddie at the famed Riviera Country Club where I used money I earned there to fund my music production company and jumstart the careers of the musicians and artists I produced. I invested the hard earned money into creating music videos for my artists as well as recording there music at the legendary Paramount recordings music studio in Hollywood, Ca

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Consistency, Consistency & Consistency! You have to have a certain level of drive, discipline and ambition to make it out here in Hollywood! It took me 5 years of hard work out here and to figure out my course of action and business strategy I wanted to implement. I surrounded myself with successful people who helped me shape what you see today with my Independent entertainment company TRW Entertainment.
