We were lucky to catch up with Mark Hill recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mark thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Coming up with my business was not something I thought about. It just happened. I started installing starlights in cars back in 2021. I seen a YouTube video of someone installing them. I always been good with my hands and knew how to work on cars so I figured this would be easy. I installed them on my car then a couple of my friends cars. I was still working a job so I would install on my off days. Starting out I didn’t get a lot of clientele or make a lot of money. So I keep pushing trying to grow the business. I worked out of my apartment till I found a garage in an apartment complex. Once I got the garage my business picked up immediately. I worked out of the garage for a couple month then management started complaining. I immediately started looking for a shop. I ended of finding a shop and now I have my own shop. It wasn’t easy at all but motivation and consistency can get you anywhere.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the best starlight installer in Atlanta. My skills and techniques are untouchable when it comes to headliners. Some people think it’s easy but it’s not. You have to have an eye for it. When my clients book with me I have the best customer service and best work. I used my instagram to promote my business growing it to 18K in less than 3 years
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I didn’t have any business funding starting out. I used the money from my 9 to 5 to buy tools and pay for promotions. Over the time I learned about running a business and the tools you need.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I build my social media just by being consistent and posting. Even when I’m tired or have stuff going on I still had to post to show people my products. I also did a lot of funny content that went viral and when you go viral a lot of people click your profile to see what you do.
