We recently connected with Mark Camero and have shared our conversation below.
Mark , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
June 7th 2016, This was the first time I ever made a dollar that came from being a creative. I had given a presentation at my colleges final semester pin up. I had just done really well and was finally finished. That is when the professor came by and gave me a card. It was a colleague of his that owns his own firm and wanted to talk to me. I was offered a contracting position to be a part of one of Miami’s greatest attractions, The Frost Science Museum. This job was adding creative input and document production towards the museums cafe. Not only was this my first job, but first project ever seen going up in real life.
Since then we fast forward almost 8 years and that moment is still the driving force behind my business today. I currently run a design studio that does Architectural and Graphic Design for individuals or small businesses. My area of specialty at the moment is residential renovations and logo design for start up company’s. Theres nothing better than seeing a job taken and made into reality wether it be a brand new kitchen remodel or a new business going strong with their brand identity.
Mark , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Name is Mark Anthony Camero, An Architectural and Graphic Designer. My path was mentally paved as soon as I hit Highschool were I trained in a technical school for Drafting. Being a creative that made a mark (no pun intended) on the world of design was no doubt what I always new I wanted.
I offer a wide array of services as I run and operate a design studio that caters to Architectural and Graphic needs of any person or company. My services range from technical floor-plans, elevations and photo realistic renderings to business logos, flyers and document design. Each service done with the same foundation and understanding of design and how it can influence a users experience.
Im most proud of the fact that it is recognized that I put my effort and creative mind to work on everything I do. Happy clients and reassuring feedback is a major driving force to keep moving forward. What sets me a part is that I believe no matter the project, effective communication is the basis of any successful business interaction.
My brand carries itself on the fact that it provides modern sleek looking designs that have intention and something to say. All of my work is a product of artist and client collaboration.
The brand seeks to expand its clientele and scopes of work in hopes that it could be immediately recognized like some of the brands we already have come to know and love.
As a potential client or follower, Its safe to expect a top notch service producing high quality designs, every time, no mater what.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best thing society can do to support creatives is to have more events that show case people with all different types of talent. Creating an event were people can expose their business to the local community and share their passion without relying on the algorithm of social media is a refreshing way we can empower word of mouth exposure. More events like these can potentially connect a-lot of yearning relationships that wouldn’t have otherwise connected.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
The journey of pricing a creatives work has to be one of the most stressful things as being a creative and it has nothing to do with the trade. The gap between loving the creatives work and the willingness to pay for it is larger than Id like. The method of pay by the hour for a creative is hard to translate to the customer because usually short times should mean less pay. This punishes creatives for being good at what they do, or immediately finding a good direction for a project. Less time should not mean less money and more time does not mean better work.
