We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mark Alers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
I manage my own social media at the moment. I like it that way for now, it’s easier to edit and post exactly how I like without having to wonder if someone is thinking what I’m thinking in regard to how I want the post or angles to look.
Mark, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always had a thing for washing cars. I used to help my brother when we were younger and man, I hated it. Who would have thought I would be doing this today. I assist my customer by allowing them to get a wash and detail no matter the location. Bringing all of my equipment to give you that “New car feeling”. What I want you to know is that it’s all about the details and that’s what sets me apart from the rest.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
What’s crazy is that I don’t have to advertise much at all. I use my Facebook page (juicesautospa) and my Instagram page (juicesautospa) to post information and pictures/videos of the vehicles I detail. Most of my business comes from word of mouth or literally I will be at a customer location detailing the car and someone would drive by and ask for my information.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Work smarter not harder. Mobile detailing is some serious work especially during the hot summer times, When I first started off, I was doing it the old fashion way, washing by hand. It wasn’t until I did more research, I began getting the right equipment to make my job much easier and less stressful on my body.
