We were lucky to catch up with Marjorie Valentin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Marjorie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Honestly learning a craft comes natural to me. I enjoy creating and sharing my projects with others.
My interests in crafting and arts happened to be in many different genres so my projects that I create and dabble in are very wide and diverse… However my latest projects that I’m really enjoying formulating and creating are my all natural lip balms, body creams, skin tightening serum, hair regrowth spray, magnesium oil spray, amongst a few other things that I have in the works.
Learning to craft for me is just trial and error. Figuring out what works for you and keep at it.
I don’t think that anything could have speeded up the process of learning the skills. Because I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to creating my projects. I want everything precise and perfect… (Though not always a reality) so for me I believe that patience and perseverance are a key factor in what I do.
What is most essential in my art is the love of what I do. I enjoy immensely bringing to fruition the visions I have inside me.
My obstacles sometimes can be me… I can be my own worst critic and cause myself to procrastinate. Something I have to work on daily. But I have great children who encourage me on a regular to pursue my dreams.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well I am a military mom, Artist, creator, and an enthusiastic DIY’er…
I was born into the world of art and creating. My family has oil painters, sculptors, sketch artists, writers, poets, seamstresses, woodworkers, masonry, knitters and crochet artists just to name a few…. So I try my hand at all of it and enjoy many forms of creating.
I believe even though there are many artists that dabble in the same genre forms… What would set me apart from others is my heart, energy and efforts put into what I’m working on and passionate about.
That is the same for everyone who is creating.
We pour our hearts and soul into what we are creating that we leave a piece of ourselves in our work, so essentially it is unique separate and apart from the others and distinctly designed according to its creator.
I think learning to become comfortable in sharing my work is what I’m proud of. For the longest time I would not share what I was working on for fear of it not being good enough. But what I’ve learned is that’s it’s ok. I don’t have to please everyone because what I do is not for everyone and I’m ok with that.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, I would really love to have a full time business with my art/creations. That is the path and journey that I am in pursuit of.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love what I do. It is a place of happiness, peace, tranquility and great satisfaction. So for that I feel greatly rewarded.
