We recently connected with Marjorie Nazaire and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marjorie, thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Since I was a little girl, I always express my feelings better by writing them on paper. That passion for writing is always alive and burning inside of my heart no matter how much I try to ignore it. Every day, my imagination takes me to different routes which bring me joy and peace. Whenever I am facing any type of challenge, I write it down as well as any advice or possible solution. At night, I have stories running through my head, and I will not rest until I write them down. One day, after talking to my daughter, I decided to bring my creative thinking to life. I did not know anything about blogging, I just feel the need to have a space besides my notebooks to write my thoughts. This is how my blog was born. I did not want to focus on one thing or have a specific niche. I never really have one focus, I believe life is full of possibilities, so why not experience them one at a time? I just write what I feel and believe that my short message will reach the right person at the right time. Besides sharing my thoughts and the quotes that have helped me, I also share my recipes. Cooking has always been therapeutic to me and my goal is to help others experience that joy that only cooking can bring. Just like my words, my recipes are simple and filled with personal stories.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a bit of everything, I never fit in one box. I am a daughter, a mother, a sister, a nurse, and most importantly, a black woman. Inspiring others with my message is what I am proud of the most as a blogger. Besides the fact that I know that people retain short messages better. I am an immigrant and English is my second language. All the ideas in my head are thought in French and I have to translate them before writing them. This is one of the reasons, I call my blog, my simple words. The second thing that brings me joy is one of my readers tell me they try my recipes and share their success with me.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
With the explosion of influencers, it becomes harder to blog, and the expectation is way more than what it was. The market is very competitive and the ads are very limited. I remained consistent and focused only on the joy that little cyber space provides me until I was hit by a personal challenge and I had to pause.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To me the most rewarding aspect about being creative is the freedom that comes with it. When I write or create, it comes directly from my heart, it brings joy and love. That joy and love can spread around
