We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mariya Krusheva. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mariya below.
Mariya , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My mom is a teacher and my father was in military. Both of them are loving and supporting parents. They did sign me up to everything I wanted to try. However, they encourage me to learn and study hard. Math was one of the subject they push on while I was little. I was fourth grade when my art teacher requested meeting with my parent. That was the point in time I starting working and focusing on art. They sign me up to art lessons and same year I won a kids art competition in the town we were living at at that time. so along whit the math lessons I had a art lessons too.
Four years later when it was time to choose what to be my major in high school, choices in front of me was math major or art. The exams to enter the specialty schools where in the same week. 3 exams for art major in one of the two professional art schools, “Acad. Dechko Uzunov” in Kazanlak, Bulgaria and one exam for the high school of nature and mathematics “Nikola Obreshkov” in the town. First exam was one for the art school. I had a excellent result with just one year of preparation professionally for it. My mom was collecting the grades from all the applicants and trying to figure out if I had a chance to get in, because for the 30 places available per year there was 200 candidates. It was hard to tell after the first exam. Second was the one for the mathematics high school.. I did well there. With a high chances to get in. However, after the second exam at the art school my mom did the math and told me that even if I have the lowest grade on the third exam I am in. It was the best news I have heard. Well after the third exam I was at 19 place of the list with accepted students. I was accepted in the other school too. So my parent sat with me and told me that they prefer I to choose mathematics but the final word is mine and they will support what ever i decide to do.
So I did not even took a second to think twice. My choice was art. So five years later I graduated with honors in industrial and graphic design.
So thankful for my parents giving me the choice to choose my path in life and supporting me all the way above and beyond.

Mariya , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the founder of MK Design Life which is my design studio. I specialize in logo design, branding / brand identity design and offer design services to businesses of all sizes and individuals. My lifetime journey of designing began when I was 9 and won my first art competition. Throughout the years, while I was earning my Bachelor of Computer Science and Master in Graphic Design, the pages of my notebooks were always decorated with pencil drawings and small design ideas. I love designing and I surround myself with it every day. I am enthusiastic and learn constantly. Designing is my ability to improve individual lives through tiny changes on a massive scale. My patience is a key to working with clients. Trying to understand and get to know what a client vision is and shape it to design that is reflective of their business or need is a process that requires a lot of it so the project is a complete success. I have quite a few; more than 80 book covers Print and E-books. A lot of successful brandings and logo designs for a companies, And many happy individual customers who impressed and keep surprising (return customers) their friends and family with one of a kind personalized gifts.
When I am not working on a design project, you are likely to find me spending time with my handsome husband, or helping, talking and laughing with my two very active and bright sons.
I am looking forward to knowing more about you and your business.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Creating art is relaxing to me. In most of the cases it is easy to do. Challenging myself to stay on top of trends and be competitive so my clients are happy and successful in their journey is rewarding to me. Another rewarding part is seeing my art on signs, billboards, in the mail as a brochures or seeing my book cover while browsing for new book to read. However, the most rewording part is when I get the chance to see the happy sparks and the satisfaction in the eyes of my clients.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Designing is my ability to improve individual lives through tiny changes on a massive scale. So my mission is to help change, be part of other people journeys through my art, design or just advise or help how they can help do it on their own.
