We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marita Lasha. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marita below.
Hi Marita, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When you focus on the abundance of success in your life, you will automatically attract more success into your life. What does it mean to focus on being successful? First you must define and understand what success means to you. Find a colleague, family member, famous person and study them. Implement what you can into your life. It can be something so simple as creating a calendar that belongs to the person you’re studying. Add events to your calendar that you wish to be apart of or wish to organize. Look at this calendar 3-4 times a day and vision yourself attending and/or fulfilling all tasks. Very soon you will notice your life shifting gears. The key is to remember that you will only get what you focus on. So the minute you have any doubts of attaining this level of success, you are now vibrating at a different frequency which brings little to no success.
I am most proud of my first year performance as a realtor. Everyone told me I wouldn’t close a deal until later my first year. When I launched, I told myself everyday I would close one deal per month. I truly believed that I would, so I worked 12-13 hours everyday and gave myself no days off. One year later I have closed 12 transactions totaling over a million in sales. Now I want to help other agents achieve this plus more.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I help people buy, sell, & lease real estate, as a licensed Realtor in the state of Texas. Becoming a mom and experiencing the pandemic, my world changed so much. I knew I needed a career with more control over my life. I couldn’t possibly see myself returning back to the friendly skies as a flight attendant. I now yearned for a career where I could use all of my past work experiences. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, I worked as a small business analyst. This provided a smooth launch of my business one year ago. I am not apart of a team, so as an individual agent I am responsible for marketing my services to gather leads, while also being point of contact for all my clients at all times of the day, and also filing and executing all contracts/legal docs as I do not have an administrative assistant at this time. Being able to juggle all of these tasks daily for 5-6 clients at a time can be overwhelming if I didn’t have the experience.
My years spent modeling and working with fashion designers/photographers has given me the eye for staging homes to sell. I’m also able to use this experience when creating my marketing materials, maintaining my website/campaigns, and managing my social media. As a model, even when I was signed with an agency I was responsible for marketing myself for jobs.
As a realtor, you must be good with people and able to provide solutions. I give credit to my time spent working in the hospitality industry, opening many restaurants for celebrity chefs and other talented restaurateurs, and traveling the world as a flight attendant. This experience strengthened my ability to connect and build rapport with men and women domestic and foreign, young and old. When negotiating on behalf of my client, it is important to remain calm, grounded, and focused. I learned this skill by having to keep hundreds of passengers calm during severe turbulence, even when I wasn’t sure myself if we were going to crash.
These past work experiences is what I am most proud of and sets me apart from other realtors. When you hire me as your realtor, you get all of this experience.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
48 Laws of Power
This is a great book for all entrepreneurs. It can be used if you intend to ‘rise’ in life/business or also if you need to ‘protect’ your life/business.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
My CRM for my real estate business is everything to me! KVCore is amazing at keeping in touch with my clients. I highly recommend it to any realtor or business owner.
