Marissa Shireen , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
It’s really amazing when women reach back out to me to tell me how much better their postpartum experience was from taking the pills. It’s great having clients really appreciate your hard work, and its great to know that I was personally able to help them heal. It’s a very rewarding business and often I become friends with these moms in the community as we feel connected 😊
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
When I was pregnant with my oldest son I read about placenta encapsulation on a pregnancy page. I started researching it and discovered that it could help me avoid postpartum depression, anxiety, boost my energy, and overall just help you feel better once you deliver. I hired a local woman to process my placenta and she was very sweet and suggested maybe I could look into getting certified as there were not many encapsulators in the area. A few months later I was fortunate enough to find a hands on class in my area, and the rest is history! I immediately started my business once I was trained and I have been in practice for over 10 years. Not only do I offer traditional placenta encapsulation but I also am one of the only providers in the world to offer Placenta Gummy Bears gummies! It took me many month to come up with a recipe and I am very proud of that. I also offer placenta chocolates truffles, placenta prints with watercolor, placenta tincture, placenta salves, and every client gets a complimentary umbilical cord keepsake as a gift! We offer these services anywhere in country and I have packages where mamas can ship me their placenta! We have local placenta encapsulation offices in Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, Denver, Colorado Springs, San Diego, Los Angesles, Augusta, with more being added!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Getting involved in my community and supporting other small businesses! Joining local small business groups and groups related to your field so you can really get your name out there and get exposure. Signing up for booths at events and offering free gifts helps too:)
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being very responsive to clients calls, questions, and inquiries has certainly helped! I try to respond within at least 24 hours, most of the time it’s within 6. We communicate very well with our mamas and thoroughly explain everything to them so they are prepared. Also how you handle unhappy clients is so crucial. It’s rare, and they need to be heard and handled with care and compassion.
