Hi Marissa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My grandmother is the motivation behind all of my holistic health studies. She was the most beautiful, generous woman I have ever met. Seeing her suffer with health issues most of her adult life always broke my heart and I wished I knew how to help her. If only I could go back in time.

Seeing her gallon sized baggie fill more each year with prescription drugs and her health decline was when I decided it would be my life goal to study holistic health.

Then dealing with my own struggles had me dive deeper into my studies.

Learning the connection between our gut health skin health and all the signs our body will give us through our skin, fascinates me.

That is how Lavender & Thyme was born.

Marissa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Lavender & Thyme has been a work in progress for over 10 years. Starting with getting my Holistic Nutrition Certification. That opened the doors to organic formulating skincare products, schooling in aromatherapy, numerous herbalism courses, gut health and detox schools, functional medicine, and my greatest accomplishment as a 44 year old mom of 3 … become a licensed esthetician.

This has been a labor of love working with our amazing community here in Black Forest, Monument, and with my online clients all over this country .

We have our charming 1950’s cabin in the Forest that provides holistic skincare treatments, detox, nutrition counseling, and our retail shoppe with carefully hand picked holistic skincare products, organic spa products, and our full organic herbal apothecary.

We offer treatments that work for skin from acne to anti-aging. Facial Reflexology, micro channeling, lymphatic draining massage and all in between!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I started with a very small loan, $5,000 and a prayer!
After a year in business, we are a debt free organization.

Thanks to our incredible community who has showered me with so much incredible support and love!

I am truly grateful!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Word of mouth! I love each and every person who steps foot through my door and trusts me with their skincare and holistic health.

Getting out into the community and interacting. Getting away from behind the computer marketing. People want face to face. They want to feel valued and heard. And that is one of my love languages. Getting to know people and helping them in anyway I am able.
