We were lucky to catch up with Marisol Garcia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marisol, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most important projects we are working on is called Asymetric. It has the support of local institutions in the Canary Islands, as well as agencies from across Europe, well-known brands, and international artists we are collaborating with.
Asymetric focuses primarily on Berlin’s Underground Techno and Ravekultur, aiming to bring an authentic clubbing experience to the city. We feature international artists from some Top-notch clubs, attracting a diverse crowd, mostly from Germany and Switzerland in a more exclusive and intimate setting, offering a unique party concept.
Asymetric also seeks to raise awareness and promote the role of women in the electronic music industry, while always supporting values such as environmental sustainability, freedom, respect, and protection. For us, sound quality is a key aspect, which is why we work with Funktion One Sound System for every event. Both our brand and Pulsar Events have always focused on providing excellent sound quality, hosting events in unique locations on the island, and offering exclusive experiences

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been surrounded by music since I was very young, coming from a family of musicians. My first exposure to electronic music dates back to the 1990s. I began my formal musical training at a very early age, starting with performance at four years old. I went on to study Bass Guitar and graduated in 2006, later continuing my studies at the Conservatory of Las Palmas. Over the years, I have had the privilege of building a diverse career as a singer and bassist, working with many different musical genres and expanding my knowledge and understanding of music as a whole.
My passion for electronic music and rhythm led me to start exploring different instruments, including drums, and in 2015, I began DJing with turntables. As I continued to delve deeper into music production, I graduated in 2018 from Bass Valley in Barcelona, specializing in Music Production. This allowed me to fully immerse myself in creating music while gaining a comprehensive musical background that blends performance and production skills.
In 2018, I launched Pulsar Events, a project born out of my passion for Underground Techno and Rave-Kultur. Alongside a fantastic team from Germany, Switzerland, and the Canary Islands, Pulsar Events has become a recognized name in the electronic music scene in Gran Canaria, organizing Techno events and Psy Festivals, and offering high-quality sound engineering with Funktion One sound systems. We put a lot of effort into creating unique experiences, with a special focus on artistic design and lighting.
Our brand has grown significantly over the years, bringing international talent to the island and promoting the island as a hub for underground music culture. We’ve been fortunate to host artists from top clubs such as Berghain, Tresor, and RSO, creating exclusive parties that combine the best international acts with a unique island atmosphere.
Our new sub-brand called Asymetric, that we’ve created under Pulsar was born to offer a new, fresh clubbing experience on the island, specifically focused on Berlin-style Techno, and to help showcase international and local talent. It is also a platform to highlight the role of women in the electronic music industry. We are working to bring more visibility to female artists and create a more inclusive environment in an industry that has traditionally been male-dominated. Asymetric has allowed me to connect Gran Canaria with the global Techno scene.
More recently, we’ve expanded our work with a new cultural and artistic project. We are taking special locations on the island and creating video sets, which serve as mini-events. The aim is to promote the island as a unique tourist destination while introducing this style of electronic music to new audiences. This project brings together my love for the island, music, and the promotion of cultural tourism in an innovative way.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
At Pulsar Events, we’ve faced many challenges over the years. One of the biggest has been the lack of venues capable of hosting high-volume events late into the night. Additionally, Spain’s laws don’t allow clubs or events to stay open until morning, which presents another obstacle. On top of that, the influence of Latin music on the island, the decline in young tourists coming to Gran Canaria due to growing complaints from residents about noise, and the fact that much of the island’s nightlife has either disappeared or been restricted, have all posed challenges.
However, resilience comes into play when you truly love what you do. When you’re passionate and creative enough, you can adapt and find ways to achieve the results you want. The key is to keep moving forward, despite the challenges. It’s always about pushing through with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and, most importantly, staying creative to adapt to your environment.
It’s been nearly 7 years now, and despite the many difficulties we’ve faced, we’re currently in an excellent place with our brand, which has grown significantly, especially on the international stage.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of our main goals is to connect the major European cities with Las Palmas, building bridges with leading clubs, artists, agencies, and so on. This way, we can continue to grow and thrive together, collaborate, and offer foreign and local audiences unique experiences, driven by the great weather we enjoy year-round, along with talented artists, carefully curated concepts, and top-quality sound. Additionally, we aim to promote values such as environmental protection, equality, and respect, while always staying true to the underground side of the scene.
