We recently connected with Marisela Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.
Marisela, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
In March 2022, I took a risk of leaving my full-time assistant position at a big Interior Designing firm, to put all of my time and energy in my business and making sure that I was taking care of my own business growth. It was the scariest thing I have ever done, I only had about 10 weddings booked for 2022, I myself was getting married in August and we were planning to purchase a home! All these plans and knowing my income would not be the same was terrifying but also very exciting! I loved my full time job, and my coworkers were wonderful which made the decision even harder, thinking that I would have some regrets.
It has been the best decisions and risk I have ever taken, other than starting the business in 2018.
I was able to not only focus more on the weddings and clients I already had, but I was able to book 10 more weddings for 2022 and start booking for 2023. I made my own hours, I focused more, and my team has even grown.
Support and good advice has been key in this journey as well.
I had my wedding! and still saving for that house.
Take that risk!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those that haven’t read about us before, we are a Weddings & Events company. We offer, full time wedding planning, partial planning, month of coordinating, event design and event management.
We have started offering Bartending services and Luxury picnics and now our team has grown!
I always say that my calling found me, and for that I am so blessed, since weddings and events was not what I had envisioned doing as a career and I was sort of put in this path by a friend who needed help with his own business.
Here at Purest Hearts, we believe in love, we believe in soulmates, and we believe in honest people. Honesty is one of our key factors to being able to help our clients and building that trust with them.
We have the loveliest couples and clients, and some become have become friends!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has honestly been word of mouth. My couples are so wonderful! and they always recommend us to new couples looking for someone to help with their weddings and events.
It is so important to build that relationship with your clients because that will be your best source!
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Thankfully, being a wedding planner does not require a whole lot of capital to get it started, however it does require you to pay for some stuff when you first start. First thing and one of my mistakes was making sure you have an LLC. Website is a must! A client lead platform, a google account for reviews. As your business starts to grow you start adding ways to make it easier on yourself like a CRM tool.
Everything starts falling into place, you just have to start somewhere!
