We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marisa Gylling. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marisa below.
Hi Marisa, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned to do what I do from life experiences, and continuing my education within the art field. From a young child I have been creating art. I loved to sketch things that intrigued me from different stages of my life. For example I loved horses as a young girl. From having horse toys to watching horse movies I learned so much about the horse physique. I also remember checking out several horse books at the local library and learning about different breeds. This allowed me to fine tune my horse drawing skills. I also gained several skills when I was in High School thanks to a great art teacher. I learned more about the tools used in art and how to see it in different perspectives. While earning my Bachelors degree I gained more knowledge of the modern art world.
Knowing what I know now, I wish I would have began my studies in art rather than the science path I took at first. I earned my Associates Degree in Applied Science thinking I was going to take a different path. However, the experiences I had in this other subject allowed me to see the marketing and business side to agriculture. Fortunately, I have a great support system so other than my choice to change my career path I had no obstacles in the way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been creating art all my life. From sketches as a young child to oil paintings as an adult. Until I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts. This exposed me to a new way of art that allowed me to sharpen the skills I already have. Creating art in a modern way with the technology we have today.
As a Graphic Designer I want to provide my clients with the highest quality product. My goal is to make their ideas come to life. I want their end product to be something they can connect to. I provide a wide range of creative art. Custom Logos, oil paintings, custom shirts, tattoo designs and more. I am always up for a artistic challenge. So please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
You can support your local artist and other entrepreneurs by simply sharing their name. If they have social media or business cards share them with your friends and others. Word goes a long way for those who are trying to reach their dreams.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing each stage of the process until the finishing product. You have to trust the process and in the end you will have an amazing result. Another reward is working with clients and hearing their creative ideas.
