Marionna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A definite defining moment in my my career was when I former classmate asked me to assist with a client of hers. It turned out to be Cassie Davis! I did the signature kinky twist style to her hair. She was super cool and down to earth. Even cooked breakfast for me and engaged in conversation. As a celebrities usually seem rude in person…it really felt like I was just at my auntie’s house. I’ll always cherish that moment too because when she gave me that tip I knew then I was deserving and my craft was a blessing from the most high!
Marionna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Scottdale, Ga and raised in Decatur where it’s greater! I’ve always been good with my hands. I started having clients by the age of nine and I had a lot of support from family and friends helping me build my craft. Fast forwarding, I’m skilled and train and I always feel undefeated because I do more than just stand behind a chair. I help elevate and motivate others by being my authentic self always giving advice or the knowledge I have to whom ever sits in my chair. I love to make people beautiful and if there’s room for a pick me up or to motivate I’m all in. My brand grew over the years and flourished with the help of my youngest sibling Keunsha.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Consistency for sure! People who chase a bag always end up without. When you are genuinely appreciative of your God given talent you know that the bag will always chase you.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Customer service is the key to a growing clientele! Along with consistently improving your skills. Target what gets you paid and tell a friend to tell a friend for a discount! The buddy system is what helped me grow. I stand on my craft I showcase it with every opportunity. People are important to my growth as well so simply do Unto those as you would have them do unto you. I learned that in first grade.
