We recently connected with Mariolga Ericson and have shared our conversation below.
Mariolga, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
La Isla Spa is a private spa-suite dedicated to corrective, preventative, and relaxing skincare. My mission is to help you achieve your healthiest skin, and to get one step closer to skin care goals. The passion I have for my industry comes from my own struggles with acne at the young age of 11 years old. I remember feeling so insecure about my acne, so helpless, and sometimes I was physically in pain. Acne is a beast, and it can absolutely effect someone mentally, emotionally, and physically. As the licensed professional now, it’s my job to make sure that acne, or any other skin concerns, do not effect someone as much as as acne did me.
Mariolga, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Again, I developed acne at a very young age. After many visits to different types of professionals and doctors, the only person who really seemed to help was my mother’s esthetician. After my first facial with her I knew that I wanted to be an esthetician just like her. Because of her, I now offer facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning, waxing, and lash and brow services so that others can feel their absolute best about themselves.
I love what I do, and I’m proud to come in to my spa every day to empower all of Nashville. Skin care is self care, and self care is for everyone. There is not a single person out there that can’t benefit from 60 minutes on the treatment table. Most people would be surprised to see how much of a difference one treatment can make, and to learn about their skin.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Before opening my own spa, I had worked in a few other spas for many years. The experience and knowledge I gained from working for those businesses was priceless to me – I learned fast what not to do as an esthetician, or also as a business owner. I also learned what my clients loved. If someone mentioned my massage technique, I’d replicate it on the next client. If someone told me they loved a certain product I would look for more products from that brand. Over time my attention to the small details made me a provider that clients fell in love with and would refer their friends to. To this day those small details are still some of my biggest priorities for my clients.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I love to keep up with my clients! Every time they come in for an appointment we spend however long they’d like catching up and chit chatting during their service. I also encourage my clients to interact with me on social media. I love being a little more vulnerable on my Instagram Stories, I love being goofy on TikTok, and I love sending e-mail updates for the spa once a month. I even encourage my clients to text me at my business number. Without a true relationship with your clients, you’re just another face to them. With concerns that can sometimes make you feel insecure, you want to feel like someone cares.
