We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marina Huneycutt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you find your key vendor or vendors? Maybe you can share the backstory and share some context and the relevant details to help us understand why you chose them, why they chose you, etc.
It is really important to us that our partners share and reflect our values. We scoured around to find quality products matched by quality vendors. Some of our vendors really inspired us: fighting sex trafficking, helping the homeless, donating to noble charities. When we saw that, we knew we wanted to work with them.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We made our way into the gifting industry, and we love it! We get to be a middle man for the love, generosity, and thoughtfulness that goes into each gift. We sell care packages, because we want to handle the time-consuming logistical aspect of a care package so you can just focus on that heartfelt message. We allow you to upload a photo to add that personal touch that makes a gift special.
We have chosen to bring together a selection of higher-quality items from partners who share our focus on sustainable business practices and giving back to the community. Just like each person has their own story, we wanted every product that we promoted to have its own story to tell.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Although we primarily market to individuals sending a care package to a loved one, we have found that corporate gifting is a much more efficient use of our time. We get to make hundreds of boxes going out to hundreds of people. So, we make sure to tell customers that we offer large-scale gifting.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Giftology by John Ruhlin. We actually had a customer tell us that they like what we do and that we really should read this book. So we gave the book a read and came away inspired by the author’s stories of giving thoughtful and incredibly generous gifts to his clients. We hope to always treat our customers really well. We want them to know that we appreciate them for trusting us with their gift fulfillment.
