Marina Guebely , appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

Before Velvet Room started Shanice and I were carpooling to a wedding out in Hermann, MO. During our trip, we talked about our goals in the bridal industry and realized our ambitions and goals were the same. After working together at many weddings and realizing what a great team we made we took the jump and created what is today: Velvet Room, a makeup & hair studio for all your beauty needs.

For those who may not have heard of us before, we are a team of professional makeup artists and licensed hairstylists dedicated to helping individuals look and feel their most confident and radiant on their special day. Our journey into the bridal beauty industry was driven by a shared passion for artistry, creativity, and the joy of enhancing natural beauty. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with countless clients, helping them achieve their dream wedding looks through expert makeup application and hairstyling.

Our services include customized makeup, hairstyling, and beauty consultations, ensuring every client receives a look that complements their style, features, and wedding vision. We specialize in long-lasting, photo-ready beauty, whether it’s a soft, natural glow or a glamorous, bold look. Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for us comes from word-of-mouth referrals and personal recommendations. When past clients have a great experience and share it with friends, family, or on social media, it brings in the most trust-filled and excited new clients.

Aside from referrals, Instagram and other social media platforms play a huge role in showcasing our work. Brides and wedding parties often find us through our portfolio, client testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content. Wedding directories, vendor collaborations, and bridal shows also help connect us with couples actively planning their big day.

Ultimately, our best clients come from those who see and trust our work—whether through someone they know, a glowing review, or a beautifully captured wedding moment online.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

Shanice and I met while working on the same St. Louis bridal teams, doing hair and makeup for weddings. After working countless events together, we realized we shared the same passion and vision for the kind of bridal beauty experience we wanted to create.

One day, while carpooling to a wedding in Hermann, MO, we started talking about our dream space and how we would run our own business. We quickly realized we were completely on the same wavelength. Soon after, we toured what is now Velvet Room Studio—and it just felt right. We fell in love with the space and knew we had to turn our vision into reality.

The journey hasn’t been easy—we’ve faced challenges and learned so much along the way. But thanks to our incredible team and the amazing couples we work with, we continue to grow and evolve. It’s been an exciting adventure, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
