Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marina Garcia And Paula Lück. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Marina Garcia and Paula Lück, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for the Studio started when Paula came to me for the first time to do her nails. At the time I was working from my home based nail studio, and she came with her nails very damaged from previous services done wrong.
Paula was very quiet for the most part of her appointment, just observing, which if you know her is not really how she is, the girl can make new friends in an instant.
When we we’re almost done, she looked at me and said,
– Do you want to open a business?
And I said yes sure, but I still have a lot to plan, to be able to do it.
And she didn’t hesitate to say, I will help you, let’s do this.
So we sat down a couple days later and we both started talking about how the Nail industry is growing and improving in terms of nail health. Is more that just looking pretty, is about taking care of how it looks underneath the polish.
She was happy that her nails felt cared for and that the service made her feel safe.
So we decided to open Studio Mar to be able to provide this type of experience to more people.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Since very young, I always loved doing nails, the colors, the endless possibilities with nail art, the fun we can have, and how it makes us feel good after having this type of self care.
After moving to the USA from Brazil, I noticed a big difference in the way nails are done here, and found myself looking for a solution, for nails that would last longer and look nicer.
That’s how I found out about the dry techniques, for both manicures and pedicures.
After doing a lot of research I knew this is was the technique I wanted to master to provide the best service in the business.
I took many classes, learned from many other nail technician masters and to this day I keep studying and improving to always stay up to date with this ever evolving industry.
The beauty industry in general is changing to how we look at products and techniques. Is more than just looking looking pretty, people want what’s best for their nails, skin, hair etc. and that’s why the Dry Technique is the best option in the market.
The detailed yet gentle approach is able to provide stronger, healthier nails, that last longer (with gel) and look nicer.
We are so happy to see many of our clients in the Studio, come back over and over again, being thrilled with their nail journey results. We have clients that thought theirs nails could never grown out from being too brittle, clients that stopped biting their nails after keeping up with our technique, and clients that feel relief after experiencing our amazing dry pedicures treatments.
Overall, we are so grateful for the opportunity we found to open a space where people feel welcomed and taken care of.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I feel like at the moment we are definitely still working on that, but from being a pretty new business, our audience is very organic and most of our clients come to us because their are able to see through our content the quality of our work, and every time they share that with us, and are excited when we post new information. So being truthful to what we do is what making us interesting to our audience.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
When I started doing nails it was definitely a side hustle to make extra money on the weekends. It helped that it was something that I loved doing it, but I would take some clients here and there and by the time I realized it I was getting fully booked and having no time to rest. When I decided it was time to really focus os just nails and keep learning and improving, it was scary, because I had a steady job that was paying the bills and everything was ok, but I had to make a decision if that’s what I wanted to try, and so I did, never looked back and now Studio Mar is here.
