Marin , appreciate you joining us today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
Since 2014 I’ve worked professionally in the marketing industry. I’ve worked with teams of creative professionals on brands like Cuties, Mighties, Panda Express and celebrities like Alex Borstein. After marrying an Army man, we moved and I began working as an insurance salesperson (AWFUL) and a Marketing Manager for an author and speaker. When that job ended I was left with a decision that was simple to make: Start my own marketing agency or job hunt every time the military moves us.
In 2018 I founded Local Collaborative with one thing in mind: Pair simple, creative approaches with strong, clear communication strategies to provide small businesses with the marketing they need to succeed. Since being a military spouse requires constant moving and adaptation, I had a dream to collaborate with talented professionals I’ve worked with during my years in the advertising and marketing industry.
Our team collaborates with you to create a memorable brand people will fall in love with. We offer executive level results with a hometown experience because we don’t believe things need to be extravagant to make an impact. We love seeing the relief small business owners have after we take the stress and overwhelm of social media marketing off their overflowing plate. It’s time to get business owners back to working on what makes them happy!

We believe ALL YOU NEED IS LESS.

We help you target the audience who actually wants to buy from you, create a brand that accurately shows what you want to show and say what you want to say. We’re a local business providing you with more local clients.
We have a variety of services including logo creation, social media content and management and all-encompassing advertising campaigns. Our clients get instant growth, increasing sales and tons of compliments. We believe when you make it simple, you make it successful.
It feels like we’re working with a close friend during each client project and truly believe in the saying “Clients become friends faster than friends become clients.”
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My thought since starting out on my own was even if I didn’t make near as much income as I’d like, I was still going to be happy doing this. I’m a military wife so things are constantly changing and when my husband is gone I am the primary parent, sole dog-walker, home owner, etc. I have to handle it all so he can do his job. I do not come first in a majority of situations because of what needs to happen for who but this company has been 100 percent me and I really enjoy what I do.
We had two parents who both worked outside of the home which always showed us a great work ethic but there were several lacking factors which really affected us. I thought it was sad they were excused with “Because of work…” They were beyond stressed, unhappy and working FOR someone; not to the benefit of themselves.
Being a parent now, I want my kids to see that I, too, have a desire to turn my creative talents into a paying business but I am doing it for the FREEDOM of putting them first. Our work is just a means to an end to earn money which is used as a TOOL to enjoy these years with our families. My best days will always be spent with them, not in front of a computer. The fire that drives entrepreneurs is removing power away from those who say how many days you can or can’t take away from them.
You matter at home. You are replaceable everywhere but home. What a blessing it is to live in a time like this where we have the ability to work remotely, learn online and grow all legacies we’ve created.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
When you create any brand you focus on your morals and values. What do you believe to be true and untrue? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What is your personality, voice, tone, and messaging? All combined that’s called a Brand Archetype.
Our main Archetype is The Everyman. We pride ourselves on doing what you say you’re going to do, doing what’s right with no need for heroics and providing a sense of belonging. We’ve been able to price ourselves fairly for the education, experiences, results from client accounts and several other factors. But we still aim to help every business because we understand investing in marketing and branding can get expensive. When someone has a certain budget they’d like to stick to we always customize a plan for them. There’s compromise to create a win-win and there’s desperation to stay busy. We’re going for longevity for ourselves and others.
