Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marilyn Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marilyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I AM HER is the name of my Brand. It took me a long time to come up with this name. I was dealing with a. Lot of things in my life and I was not feeling adequate or positive about myself. I found myself pushing everybody to be all that they could be, pouring into so many women and putting a smile on their faces but I could not put a smile on my own. I felt lost. I begin to be drained from life, so one day it hit me. I got up and looked into the mirror and told myself that I am Her, the woman to get the job down. I knew that if I could see greatness and potential in others, I could see it within my self.
I wrote myself a Purpose statement for my life and I also wrote a book called “I Am Her”. This book is a self motivational book to push others to see the great potential inside. After I wrote the book, I begin to host conference to build up the inner beings of women. I have traveled to do conferences and pour into other individuals. I believe my Brand can and will continue to change lives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Marilyn S Brown, I am a Preschool Teacher, author, song writer, recording artist and business owner. I am very passionate about the serving people who don’t understand who they are. I have a degree in business management, a certification in cosmetology and I am currently enrolled in theology Studies.
I am Married to Joseph Brown, who is a Pastor in our community. We find great joy to serve in our community by bridging gaps of poverty stricken individuals and the church. We have 9 children.
In my community, they have given me the name ” THE PURPOSE PUSHER” . The reason being is that I see what is hidden deep in side and help aide in bringing it to the forefront. I help connect them to different individuals, organizations, and resources to help push their vision or to help them reach their goal.
Within my Brand, I offer mentor sessions, 1 on 1’s or group sessions. I offer growth plans to help guide my Mentee’s through their process of finding who they are becoming. In my community, I see a host of broken people (Women) that need someone to believe in them. I want people to experience their full potential so I make it my job to reach as many I can to help them.
I am extremely proud of how I see the impact my book has had on the ones who had read it. I am also proud to hear all the testimonials of those I have had the the privilege to pour into.
I am looking to establish a center for individuals to come to on a regular basis to receive what they need. I plan on having Guidance counselors, life coaches, grief sessions, job training, hygiene classes, self-esteem sessions and more. My desire is to make this Brand bigger than my local community, I want to touch lives all across the world.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social Media has become one of My greatest marketing tools. I reached my first Mentee’s, peers and clients through social media. I had to remain consistent with delivering and catering to the needs of those wanted what I had to offer. In order to reach them, ai first had to become transparent parent and share my own story and where I had come from. I created a group on Facebook called ” I am HER”, along with my GET MOTIVATED WITH MARILYN page. People will reach out and seek help or advice. It had become overwhelming, so I had to create conferences to get the people in one place so I could pour into them.
My advice to those who are looking to build a social media presence is to stay consistent. There will be days where you will have a lot of traffic and days there will be none, but don’t give up. Give excited, content and advertisement, something that will draw the eye of your potentials. Marketing is the most important besides word of mouth. Most social media platforms are free, so take advantage of it

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal to be more than local id driving me to do more. I know that there are many people out there that are ready to move forward in their best potential. I want to travel the country, Teaching, training, building and sharing with people about inner confidence. Everyday, I want to make an impact on least 5 people outside of social media and at least 100 a day by social media.
I believe that every person my needs someone to believe in them. I have no issue with being that person who believes.
